Post Unable to connect to an LDV van

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone managed to connect to an LDV van.

My setup –

  • Torque connected to the ELM 327 connector, but the ECU connection kept flashing and never produced any reading. We tried all sorts of combinations, engine on/off, ignition on/off, restart Torque, unplug/replug OBD connector.

    Thanks, Tingara.

    Hi!

You’ll need to check that LDV supports OBD2 (as used in consumer vehicles) or something like J1939 which is used in heavier equipment.

If it supports OBD2, then it should be working for you already (ignition on enough for the engine ECU to wake up, engine doesn’t need to be on) – if it’s not working at this point, then it’s time to suspect the adapter being bad on the signalling protocol the vehicle uses (different manufacturers use different signalling methods)

If it’s J1939 compliant instead, then you’ll need to wait until about version .182 is released (which adds support for J1939, which is used in busses, lorries, etc, etc)
