Hi
I tried 2 times Torque Scan add on and have miserably failed after spending hours of gas running my car in the driveway.
1st time about 3 weeks ago it took 2.5 hours and detected nothing and still going on. I stopped the process as it became late evening and it was cold.
Yesterday I started early. I took some care knowing people mentioned on this forum about the Torque Scan add on certain issues. I locked my screen not to rotate, Avoid touching the screen as that make the scanning box disappears that showing what Hex address it is sending, and I know the issue of that fails to email the report so I was prepared to take the screen pictures using my other cell phone.
So here what happen. Luckily it started working from the first Hex address and getting response. Fro my surprise it went on for 4 hours before any trouble of disconnecting from Bluetooth. Last time Bluetooth communication disconnected quite early and keep disconnecting and reconnecting hence no good scan. At that time I did not got any codes. So for 4 hours it collected hundreds of successful codes and their responses. As the screen keep scrolling up and after 4 hours when it stopped without completing the scan, I guessed that there could be 20 to 30 pages of codes retrieved. Each page has about 33 lines of data (Found codes and their responses). I thought I will scroll up the pages latter, start from the first page and start taking the picture with the help of 2nd phone. To my surprise I have only 8 pages/screens. Everything else from the beginning was lost. It is not there at all.
I have made a video of 2:17 minutes at the start up when it started the scan. It shows it started with the command as follows:
Command 2403 response 486b18410c0bb4b2
It then goes until 2419 and then it jumps to start scanning from 210d. Apparently somehow it starts with 24xx but then fall back to 21xx. It goes up to 21a6 before my screen is filled and now I can see every 3rd and forth codes is responding and providing the response code for next 4 hours. The screen keeps scrolling up line by line.
As I said I have only 8 pages available that I took the picture off before quitting the “Torque Scan” add on.
The first page (of the last 8 pages) has the following code on the top of the page.
221f3d.
There were hundreds of codes between 21000 and 21f3c (just before the f3d) those were on other pages, that Torque Scan were not able to save in the memory. There is no issue of phone memory. I have 7.31 Gb out of 16 Gb on my Samsung SIII phone.
I think these issues should be fixed. It is a great add on. You can imagine I have spent almost 4 to 5 hours running the gas while my care was parked in the driveway and at the end it failed which is not a fun.
It seems the work around is start taking the picture once the first screen is filled. Scroll the screen up, so you can see the new codes are coming. Before It fills the 2nd page / screen, take the picture and scroll up. Yes touching the screen will make the box disappear which is showing what Hex address it is sending but it is still better then loosing all the valuable time and data.
I would suggest at least the found data should be saved automatically in a csv or text file. Should have stop and start option at the user’s choice. If the email option cannot be fixed currently, at least latter one can pick the file manually and send through email, Bluetooth etc.etc.
Thank you.
