I have the ELM 327 Mini. It connects and logs fine with my 2007 Toyota RAV4 and logs fine.

It connects to the Honda but does not log.

Think that unit is not compatible with the 96 Accord?

Which unit would be?

Also, is it ok to leave the unit plugged into the vehicle? Don’t know how much power it draws when the vehicle is off. Don’t want to discharge the battery.

Some clone adapters have issues with the
older protocols like VPW, PWM and ISO.
There are a number of threads discussing
this.

As for myself, I use BAFX and OBDLink MX
adapters.

Also, I wouldn’t leave the adapter plugged in
for more than a couple days without starting
the vehicle and recharging the battery. The
battery can discharge even faster in colder
weather. IMO.
