Post 2016 Tacoma transmission temperature help please
on: September 12, 2017 (GMT)

Hello, I am new here and have done some searching about PIDs and whatnot for my Tacoma. I have used Torque Pro for a long time. I have a 2016 3rd generation Toyota Tacoma. I have been interested in trans temps since I got the truck but we will be towing our new trailer home on Friday and now I am in need of trans Temps. I know there are two sensors, each with a different PID.

I found this info on the Scan Guage website. These are verified with SG users but i cannot get them to work in Torque Pro.

0701221AAA
C462051A36AA
3008
000900055FFD8
TF2

0701221AC0
C462051A36C0
3008
000900055FFD8
TF2

After doing a lot of Research on Scan Guage code, I know what all parts of those numbers mean. When entering them until the custom PID, I can only get a response when I enter
PID 1AC0
Header 1A36C0
The output after A*(9/5)-38 like SG wants, is 16.

The raw hex responded is
6F02E00001E0C00000

Can anyone help me? I have read that 0701 means it might be calling to a secondary computer in the vehicle which Torque cannot communicate with. How can SG do it and not Torque? This method has worked for previous Tacomas and I have checked their process against SG old info and it matches what I am doing.

Please help! AHH

Just read where a 2015 Taco used 2182. Did
this change for your MY?

Are you testing both pids you provided?
I saw a reference to the first pid you
listed too.

A*(9/5)-40 is more typical for °F.

Cintakc,

My curiosity peaked with the new Toyota
pid… not trying to get in your way.

Yes, I have tested both. They both give the same response to all recommendations made here
Sorry for the mess, your comment won’t quote correctly

I can take a closer look at your car in the scanner, I will need some answers to requests for ECU IDs
on your car there is an engine 2GR-FKS ?
give me an answer on PID 22F186

Yes, 2gr-fks

What do you mean answer on pid 22f186 ? Do you want me to use Torque Scan and enter that header?

Or do I make a new custom pid with just the PID filled in? No header, no start command?

I added 22F186 as PID and 701 as header.
Output
70904#62#F18601
A=1

Edit, 62 is now written correctly

give me an answer on PID 220101, 220700
unfortunately I can not give you all the requests at once, since the scanner does the following query only when I substitute it the correct response to a previous request

I wrote the last one incorrectly, this is the actual response I received. I assume this might change what you are asking me for now! Ahh. I wrote 26 instead of 62

I added 22F186 as PID and 701 as header.
Output
7090462F18601
A=1

I have received your information, tomorrow will look

221627 – A/T Oil Temperature ?1
221628 – A/T Oil Temperature ?2
22162B – ATF Thermal Degradation Estimate

PID 22162B
Header 701
Response 709037F2231
A=-1

PID 221627
Header 701
Response 709056216276400
A=100
(this response changes and gives reasonable values when put through
A*(9/5)-40)

PID 221628
Header 701
Response 7090562162867C0
A=103
(this response changes and when put through the equation A*(9/5)-40, it gives a reasonable value. I know the transmission thermostat opens around 195 and the transmission cooler began getting warm when the TF2 showed 201F, and not before)

These seem to be correct. I also stood on the brake and revved to 1000rpm while in gear and TF2 rose 5F. Can you confirm these are correct?
