Post 2005 Toyota Sienna Trans Temp
on: August 19, 2017 (GMT)

Purchase a BAFX Bluetooth OBD reader and installed Torque Pro just to check the transmission temp when towing. I set up a custom PID and Equations using codes I found on Sienna forums without much luck. When using PID 21D9 I’m getting a response of 47000000000000. All the Equations I’ve used have shown No Response. I’m hoping someone has already done the transmission temp setup for a 2005 Toyota Sienna that I could just copy to the Torque App. This is all new to me so please be excuse my lack of knowledge.

I would test your TFT response at
ambient (cold) and at temperature
(hot) to see if the first byte(s) behave
like a TFT reading.

Try creating an external PID

Thanks you Cintakc. Now showing transmission temp, which is around 29c cold.

This is the right indication for you
Do a scan with a plug-in TorqueScan on mode 21

Checked with Torque Scan, got a reading of o Deg. I must have done something wrong with Torque Scan. No problem, the readout on the custom PID on Torque Pro showing the transmission temp is doing its job.

I’ve set up a custom PID to read the engine oil temp. I’m using PID 2121 to read the sensor but getting a readout of -38 using equation A*(9/5)-32 which isn’t changing during warm up.

So far I can read the temps of the transmission and coolant. Hoping to be able to read engine oil temp. Thanks to all for the info.

The engine oil temperature is not supported on all engines,
You most likely have a PID Engine Oil Temperature, should be 015C, I think 21xx will not be correct
So I told you to check with the plugin which PID on 21xx will be supported on your car

PID 015C, which I hoped display the oil temp is showing no data. The engine oil temperature must not be supported on my 2005 Toyota Sienna. Only PID 21xx supported is 21b4 for transmission temp. Thanks anyway.
