Post Help for Duramax Diesel
on: July 11, 2017 (GMT)

I have Torque Pro and I am trying to set it up for a GMC 2007 Classic Sierra 4×4 with the Duramax LBZ diesel engine. I’ve been searching the forum looking for the correct settings to use but nothing I have tried so far is giving me access. Currently I have the Vehicle Profile/Preferred OBD2 Protocol set to “Automatic – Thorough protocol scan”, but I also tried “SAE J1850-VPW (10.4k baud) with and without “atk” in the Very Advanced custom config string option.

Functions like [GM]Balance Rate (Cyl 1 thru 8) and Transmission Temperature display without any activity (no readings).

I am trying to diagnose a Limp Mode issue that is fuel related and really can use some help configuring this app to return the data needed.
There are a few trillion Duramax out there… can anyone help?

“ATZ” is the Elm327 command mentioned in most
of the GM balance rates threads I believe.

Is your adapter showing errors under the Adapter
Status icon information?

VPW was used on older GMs… I would have
guessed your vehicle uses CAN?

Does ATZ need to be entered in upper case? Which CAN is the correct one, there’s 4 or 5 listed…

The Elm327 is not case sensitive.

I would have thought a working adapter would
have found the correct protocol during its
auto search. You never said if your adapter is
showing any errors.

You might also want to look for bent pins/correct
operating voltage at the DLC.
