Post Question about Adapters
on: June 26, 2017 (GMT)

I have a quick question.

With us having temperatures at 122 fahrenheit / 50 Celsius i have been monitoring my coolant temps

I want to leave my adapter plugged in all the time. I’m just wondering if anyone knows what the drain is on the battery when left connected?

The Bluetooth disconnects but there’s a light on showing it’s connected. I’m thinking it doesn’t drain much but I’m not sure.

thanks!

Right I understand that. But i’m talking about when the car is off. The light stays on, but not the connection to the ECU. I’m just wondering how much of a drain it is when the car is off.

I’m thinking the Elm327 chip by itself draws around
12 mA (and 0.15 mA in low power mode AT LP). Likely
the whole unit may draw 40-50 mA.

It would probably be okay if your vehicle is
driven daily. More than a couple days may
be pushing it. (Will also drain faster in
extreme cold).

But as always, I could be proven wrong!

So glad you’re up and running again. Don’t forget
to look at those PIDs mentioned above, if applicable.
Others and I worked hard on getting those for the
7.3 OBS folks.

Edited.

End Quote.

So was I.
