Post Verizon Hum-X

I recently purchased an android radio for my car. It has torque built into it and I would like to keep using the app for monitoring. I also have a need for a hotspot in my car for the gps functionality/streaming music. The OBD2 versions of this (Hum-X on verizon) seem to be the best solution however I cannot tell if the wifi signal for internet purposes is what is needed for torque to communicate with the vehicle. I would really be surprised if it did work but I figured I would ask here before ruling it out. I dont want to have to turn a conventional hotspot on and off when getting in and out of the vehicle, so if the hum-x would work thats my best case scenario. Thanks!
