Post Can't Reset Fault
on: May 6, 2017 (GMT)

I’ve been using Torque with a bluetooth adaptor successfully for several years on a number of different cars but when I tried it on a friend’s Rover 75 it wouldn’t clear a “general misfire” code. Has anyone else come across similar problems? Am I doing something wrong or have Rover “bent” the OBDII rules so that only their test kit can clear faults?

Tried again today and Torque showed no faults despite the ‘check engine’ light being on. Clearing the faults had no effect.

Tried using VCDS in OBDII mode and it showed P0300, which is a generic misfire code that Torque should be able to read and identify as it is in the OBDII standard set. It also showed a pending P1319, which is a Rover specific one.

Not entirely sure whether I eventually managed to clear them with VCDS or they just reset because I fixed the misfire. Anyway the light is out so onward and upward.
