Post custom PID help
on: April 5, 2017 (GMT)

I want to add a custom Oil Temperature because is not available for my car.

Vehicle profile ELM327 config:
AT PB E1 01\nAT CRA 612\nAT SH 6F1\nAT FC SH 6F1\nAT FC SD 12 30 0F 02\nAT FC SM1\nAT CEA 12\nAT CM 600\nAT CF 600\nAT H1\nAT SP B\nAT BI

the PID mode is 22F150
and I am getting an answer (trough wireshark) “F1 06 62 F1 50 0F 17 F0 \r\n””

Does anyone knows what equation should I use in order to make it work?

I have tried A-40 or AC-40 but it does not returns correct values

Thanks

Mode PID:22F150
Min-Max Value = -40 to 215
scale x1
Equation = ?????

Give me your mail
I could look in the scanner for a formula for you, but I will need several answers in the terminal

I am very surprised because I did not think I could find it
but with the help of FntX and cintakc finally I have a working pid for oil temperature for BMW F20 with N13 engine

the custom pid should have the following setup

224402
Engine Oil Temperature
Oil Temp
-48
143.25
x1
grad C
(A*256+B)*191.25/255-48

thanks a lot!

Hi guys,

I was searching for bmw f20 n13 oil temp and this page and greek bmw forum came up. Both have the same information.
But it actually didn’t work on my car. Giving -48 as a result on the gauge.
Are you sure that the formula is correct ?

Thanks in advance.

Yes it is correct
Probably your dongle can not read it..

Thank you very much for your answer userM…

after writing the codes you have sent When i click on test button on torque app it gets a response, so there shouldn’t be a dongle issue and rest of the gauges are working completely fine. This is why i wanted to double check the equation.

my car production date is 10-2012 there might be an issue with old productions i guess..

anyway if it is possible can you please share hex code without equation if you have one ? so i can give it a another try with different equations.

thank you for your help again..

a friend of mine tries to create the following pid
but he gets wrong numbers in the pid

although the max number is 143.25
in the pid shows 40.000

what could be the fault here?
the minimum -48 is correct

224402
Engine Oil Temperature
Oil Temp
-48
143.25
x1
grad C
(A*256+B)*191.25/255-48
