Dear All,

Do any of you have good and usable information on what are the OBD2 Mode 6 TID (test ID) and CID (component ID) meaning? I have an 1.6 16V VW engine (AZD) and I want to know which TID is referring to what component test. One of them (TID:05 CID:0e) has a max. value of 200 but it is failing with 9850-10000 in my car. Since it is pre-CAN system it does not tell me what it is really (not using MIDs).

Thank you in advance

@crok, I don’t know how ‘applicable’ it would be between manufacturers (probably not very), but Ford has done a very good job publishing a Motorcraft OBDII Theory of Operation Manual which lists the information you are looking for all the emissions monitoring tests – FOR FORD of course. And I do not know if there is any standardization in the area of reporting mandated emissions ‘Monitoring’ test(s).

But, my OBDII Theory of Operation Manual – indicates Mode 06 Test Id ’05’ is on Heated O2 sensor ‘Response Rate’. See the attached page from the referenced manual. Perhaps it will help.

The FORD manuals, while perhaps not applicable in your case, may be helpful to other FORD Torque Users, and can be downloaded (for Free) for various year models/styles from HERE: https://www.motorcraftservice.com/freeresources/obd

Hey F-150Torqued,

Thank you for your response, really appreciate it!

The issue with your paper is that it is for a systems with a
‘normal’ O2 pre-cat sensor – I have a system with AFR sensor
before the catalyst (thus it has no ‘switch point’, it works
differently) and the in the doc is not a TID but a MID so
it is for CAN systems, unfortunately I have ISO 9141-2.

I will check the manuals, one by one.

But nevertheless thank you for your response – as always!
I will come back if I find something.
