Post intake manifold pressure on maf based systems
on: February 16, 2017 (GMT)

hello guys I have a quick question
I am monitoring my E46 petrol M52TU engine parameters, I found out there’s a vacuum gauge, which sometimes is reading positive air pressure.
I wonder how this gauge calculates pressure, car is MAF based, I’d like to understand what kind of calcuation is behind this value.
Thank you all !

You ‘found’ a vacuum gauge? Is sounds like you found is “BOOST”. If so, the formula is ((A*256)+B)*0.03625)-BARO() and if your Barometric pressure sensor reading was off (High) would give you a negative reading. Or your engine is exhaling. lol

my car is n/a and has a MAF sensor. Baro isnt available.
my question is how torque app is calculating vacuum and boost without the hardware? who are A and B ?
