Post Complete list of FID per manufacturer
on: November 5, 2016 (GMT)

I downloaded the software for an italian dash logger, there is an “ecus” folder full of .xml and .bin for every car and bike manufacturer.
I looked for VW codes and I found
FID 2961 for oiltemp
FID 301201 for gearbox temp
FID 262286 for BOOST TFSI

Can I use these codes to build a custom dial, i.e. for monitoring engine oil temp?

Going back to VW group, I extracted this from xml

p n=”FID” 2961 /p
p n=”FwChTyp” 3 /p
p n=”FwFlags” 2 /p
p n=”IDFis” 12 /p
p n=”IuS” 100000 /p
p n=”MaxFreqIus” 500000 /p
p n=”MinFreqIus” 1000000 /p
p n=”LongName” VW_OILTEMP /p
p n=”ShortName” OILT /p
p n=”Hi” 400 /p
p n=”In” mV /p
p n=”PhysicalQuantity” FID_PHI_TEMPERATURE /p
p n=”MeasuredObject” FID_OBJ_OIL /p
p n=”Lo” -120 /p
p n=”Type” undef /p
p n=”UIB” C /p
e i=”polyn” c=”ConvFunc”
p n=”0″ -60 /p
p n=”1″ 1 /p

Interesting things for me are first line “FID” 2961, that could translate to our PID, and last two lines, I suppose penultimate is subtractor (-60) and last is multiplier (1) of the equation.
Now I think we should find the header?
Btw, next to every plain text .xml, there’s an encrypted .bin that could contain further hints.

I found another file, maybe hECU or hCHD are headers? (most problably hex…)

ECU 017442
hECU 0000000302a
hCHD 0000000085a
fid=2961
typ=3
fmt=1
shn=OilT
lnm=T_Oil
ius=100000
flgs=2
chiave=0
CHD 006259
hSENS0000000151a
idf=19
id=SN_ECU_TEMP_CX10
cvt=1
a0= 0
a1= 1
a2= 0
a3= 0
a4= 0

Hi!

Pretty much all of this can’t actually be used as the PID information will likely be encoded in a private way that’s difficult to reverse (plus any copyright issues as well, so please don’t post any more)
