Post 2001 ML270 - I get data but no fault codes
on: October 28, 2016 (GMT)

Good evening,

I am using torque pro with a generic elm 327 adapter on a 2001 Mercedes ML270. I can connect to the car, and I get the guages come up fine, however when I check for fault codes I get zip. I know I have fault codes, as my local garage can see them on their Delphi machine, so they must be able to be collected. Looking at the wiki I can see that the adapters either work or don’t, so I am a little confused. Am I doing something wrong, is my adapter faulty, or are there some commands I can run to get the fault codes?

Thanks
Drew

Hi

If the ‘check engine’ light is lit on the vehicle then there will be fault codes stored in the OBD2 fault log. If it’s not, then you’re unlikely to get fault codes unless they’re stored in the pending OBD2 log

Do you know if the delphi machine was using OBD2, or the manufacturers proprietary STAR protocol (which isn’t OBD2)?
