Hi All,

Can you suggest a good obd2 ecu emulator hardware/software so that I can test things such as formulas/displays etc. on Torque pro from home instead of in the car please?

Thank you!

Hi

If it’s just messing about with formulas (and not bothering with things like signalling protocols to adpaters, or testing the adpaters themselves) then an Arduino and a breadboard would likely be ideal

(Not using the Arduino native support I have put into the app though, but using one to emulate an adapter instead – I use this to test some bits when I’m debugging things here, as it’s cheap cheerful, and I can customise it to how I want)

The only thing is that it depends on how electronically minded you are, and if you’re into programming at all as there would be some messing about.

(The above is basically what I use – I don’t use anything else other than the scantool.net ecusim which is a bit pricey. The arduino lets me code in behaviour to emulate specific requests and/or ECUs(etc), plus I can put whatever twiddly bits on it that I need (switches, potentiometers, etc)

I will start getting info about Arduino and a breadboard

Do I need custom software/os to connect to torque and maybe test formulas? Maybe you can suggest somme beginner links to start reading :)

Thanks a lot!

Adding the ability within the pid editor to “set”
the variables in the equation to any value while
offline would allow…

Edit pid to remove the mode/pid value to
get past a not connected error when testing
offline.

Set variable(s) for test conditions, e.g., A= and B=
when a pid is not referenced by way of menu options
for variables referenced in the equation.

then use “TEST” to see the results of the
equation.

CANCEL editing to restore mode/pid field
when done testing.

Currently variables default to some strange
number like -1 which I have been using to
test my rather long equations for polynomials.

Food for thought anyway 😉
