Post fuel remaining

I took a 170 mile trip with torque running. I’ve noticed the fuel remaining gauge is hardly stable, with half a tank left it will wander between 18% and 92% as I’m driving. this is of little concern as I have a fuel gauge on the dash cluster, but it affects the distance to empty display a great deal, rendering it almost useless unless the vehicle has been stopped for a while, or driving at a steady speed on level land.

the fuel gauge on the cluster barely moves during all this. I’m using the “Distance to empty” (not the estimated) sensor which shows as active, and the “Fuel Level(From Engine ECU)” sensor.

is it possible to get the fuel level reading the dash cluster is using for the DTE calculation?

thanks in advance

have a great day!!!
