Look for an OBDII compliant label under the hood.

Test pid 011c for conforming standard?

Block ECU address of your car is not 10, and 01
in Profile you need to write an initialization string
atsp5\natsh8101f1

Go into Setting “Vehicle Profile” fill profile
-preferred OBD2 protocol select ISO14230 fast init
-Select bird “Use OBD alternative header”
-custom configuration string: atsp5\natsh8101f1
-save
Go into “Settings” -> “Manage extra PIDs” -> “…” -> “Add Custom Pid”
-create Pid
-exit the Settings
-Select “Realtime information”
-long tap on the screen
-add display

22110B – Pid Temperature engine (A-40)
221130 – Pid Temperature transmission (A-40)

Hi

Your smart should work (my old Mk.6 scratch-black and Mk.7 cdi did) – I’m assuming that yours should work as well (as it’s post 1996). Unless it’s a CDI or you are outside the EU/US

It’s a K-Line smart(later ones moved to CANBUS), which is the signalling protocol used to talk to the ECU.

OBD2 sits on top of that signalling protocol.

You should leave the vehicle profile set to defaults apart from the name, weight and engine displacement which will be 0.6

None of the advanced options need touching in the vehicle profile

You should then simply let the adapter connect to the vehicles ECU after stating the app (the adapter status screen should show you how far it’s got).

If it’s not connecting (and the smart supports OBD2, which iirc it should from that year) then it usually means that the adapter isn’t functioning properly on the signalling protocol the ECU uses (and it should work on all of them without issue) – if that’s the case then you’ll need to get it replaced
