Post instructions ???
on: February 2, 2016 (GMT)

Hello,
I’m new here and to Torque pro.
This is a great app, if only I knew how to use it.
Having Googled my head off up mostly all dead ends, I can’t find any instructions on using the app. However, I did find lots of people in the same boat, looking for instructions. Apart from the wiki page which only covers initial set up there is nothing else.
Do any instructions on using this app exist and if not, why not ???
Many thanks for any help

its just a simple case of playing around with the app and changing various features via the menu option. if you dont like them you can always reset them back to standard format.

OK, thank you for that.
I would like to ask the developer of the app why they don’t write some instructions as there are an awful lot of people out there wanting some.

I’m not the developer but will try to
answer some of your questions…

Limited help is available in Wiki links
above.

By pressing the blue question marks
within the app.

and finally by posting your questions
within this forum where others may
be able to answer your questions.
Its likely your question has been asked
and answered before so don’t forget to
search the forum for answers.

Ian is a one man band and spends most
of his time developing his apps. If he took
the time to revise instructions everytime he
added new features… we would still be
waiting for fixes and features.

This is all my opinion of course!

Typically when Ian has gone silent on the
forum he is usually working on major changes
to his apps.

Thank you for your reply.
I can see from your high postings that you are up to speed on this and i appreciate your advice, which I will try out.
I understand that “Ian” may be busy developing his apps but a fully developed app would include instructions on how to use the app to it’s full potential,IMHO.
There is clearly a need for them from the number of people looking for some and would also solve the problem of sites advertising instructions but are actually shonky sites with malware.
Surely writing some basic instructions wouldn’t be too time consuming (even expand those on wiki) and would go a long way for folk to recommend it more highly.
Many thanks

What instructions are you lacking, I find the app itself fairly straightforward. The issues I’m having stem from new hardware (recent phone and adapter models)

The dial types seem self explanatory, the dial sizes as well…
Are you perhaps looking for explanation of what each pid and sensor are for? Unfortunately those may differ from vehicle to vehicle and not all vehicles have all the possible available sensors..

There is an awful lot of people out there would like some instructions, some people like instructions, they help when using something they are unfamiliar with.
There are only 6 dials, I got an add on, but added no more features. I particularly wanted the emissions read out but can’t find it. Tried PID scan and not only did it not work, it cocked the car up so it wouldn;t start.
I can see this is going nowhere and there are no instructions and seems never will be, which answers my question.

Adding new displays is as simple as using
your menu key to add a display then
following the prompts to add the desired
display.

Long pressing on an empty area should
also give you the option to add a display.

Scroll through the list of displays as there
is one for emissions monitor status. I believe
it was one of the default realtime displays
for Torque Pro.

When posting questions to the forum it helps
if you mention the specific vehicle you are
having issues with.

(Torque Pro).

I used Torque to get the codes from a Mazda, fixed the code and clear the code. Because of the clearing, I cleared a couple of monitors. I did not know this until the car failed inspection. My daughter bought an ODBII adapter and download a free app for her iPhone and it would show which monitors were started and which were not. I have tried to find this information in Torque for Android but having a difficult time finding the monitors.
Can anyone help?

The post above yours answers your
question on displaying your monitor
status.

Your monitors are reset everytime you
clear faults. Search web for the “Drive Cycle”
specifically for your vehicle which will
satisfy all the conditions necessary to
complete the monitors.
