Got it, thanks!

Looks like it hadn’t connected to the ECU at that point (also, make sure that ‘debugging’ is enabled in the general preferences)

The code for connecting to the adapter hasn’t changed (it’s the same code for normal OBD) so it should still connect. It could be that something else is connected to the adapter (which would block any other connection attempts) or that it just hadn’t connected at that point

OK just sent you another one. Its still telling me its not communicating with the ECU. I’m sure it had nothing else connecting.

Got that one too – it has some more info in it which is helpful

From what I can see, the ECU isn’t responding to requests, so I will need to do some investigation to see why it’s working on a 2000 impreza ecu, but not yours

Great looking App. I have a Obdlink MX, would this work with that since it can read multiple CAN protocol?

Thanks

I’m told the MX should be able to support it, though I need to actually test and add support for the specific mode (it needs a code update) so this will also be one of the next additions to SSM support once I’m confident that the basic support is working

they started using can bus system on the 2008 models onwards where there’s high and low. high can bus is for the important systems like the dccd (traction control), ecu, combination meter, body integrated system and vdcc. the low is for the not so important matters.

but for what i see, using the obd2 to communicate isn’t a problem with the scantool i use regardless of whether it’s 2.5 liters or 2 liters. meaning the jdm or usdm models. so, although there were many changes done but seeing that there isn’t any problems communicating with the ecu with the scantool i used, i don’t know what seems to be the actual problem since my knowledge on obd2 communication is null.

so i’m thinking that it doesn’t matter whether it’s from year 2000 or to date…

Ian,
i just uploaded for you
SSM Specifications pdf document
http://www.2shared.com/document/bJWl4H5D/ssm.html?

i think SSM spec would be very helpful for you.

About 2 days ago i tried Torque 1.5.46 (before last release) with Subaru Forester SG5 2003 MY EDM through Kiwi PLX Bluetooth.
it’s Successfully connected to ecu, but Water Temp was -40 C, EGT was about +40 C and all the other sensors were frozen.

Hi

Yes, 1.5.46 is *not* the version with working SSM support. You must be on 1.5.49 to have any chance of it working :-)

You need to try with version 1.5.49 (the latest on the market)

??,
i’ll try it today evening and send you debug log.

Thanx.

P.S. May be offtopic, but yesterday was released official (for some countries) firmware Android 4.0.3 for SGS II I9100XXLPQ.

Can i try SGS II + wired USB + Tactrix OP 2.0 (FTDI) + SSM ?

Hi

It will recognise USB ELM adapters, not sure about the tactrix though as it’s not ELM it may be a straight passthrough adapter (in which case it will be like the vagcom 409.1 cable I have here) – this will require extra logic in the app to work with this cable so at the moment USB adapters are limited to normal OBD2 at the moment. It will probably take me adding vw’s protocol before I can support things like tactrix cables

Hi!
according to our agreement i sent you debug info.

in current ver 1,5,49 it can’t connect to ECU, instead ver 1.5.46 successfully connnected.

@tjlp

1.5.46 was blind to whether a connection was successful or not it had no concept of a connection state, the latest version only considers a connection successful if the ECU replies with valid data (which it isn’t replying)

You are using a PLX adapter, not an OBDKey 1.30 or above, as I haven’t tested with the PLX adapter, I don’t know if it works for SSM so unfortunately can offer little support at the moment for it….

Any progress on this? Being able to do datalogging was a big factor in me buying Torque, and being able to go into SSM mode was a big factor in me getting the OBDKey. Would be great if they could work together!

I’ve been able to get the OBDKey into SSM mode with the appropriate AT commands, but haven’t been able to get that working with Torque.

I’ll send some debugs to you when I get a chance, probably this weekend.

Hi

Do you know what version of the OBDKey you have?

The app can put the OBDKey into SSM mode itself now when it connects so should no longer be an issue. I’ve had some people reporting it has worked, but haven’t found out why it’s not working for others (yourself included), so will be spending some more time with the ECU on my desk trying to work out why

Can I ask why year /model of vehicle you have?

Hi,

Yes, I have OBDKey 1.40.

Hmmmm, I’ve only tried it after I’ve put it into SSM mode myself, using a Bluetooth terminal. Should I set it back to normal mode (ATSP0) and then try again?

I just tried sending you a few debugs, one with it working in a regular ISO mode, the other with it not connecting in SSM, but my phone is having data connection problems and Torque was shutting down, so I only sent the first part. First line of my debug comment is “About SSM:”

Getting a new phone tomorrow (under warranty!), I will send you a debug with it not connecting using SSM soon!

I have a USDM 2005 Saab 9-2X Aero, which is an identical engine and ECU (and 99% of the rest of the car) as a USDM 2005 Subaru WRX. I haven’t had a problem using RomRaider (which uses SSM) for datalogging before.

I have a 2002 wrx and would like to see SSM info as well. Namely misfire count and cylinder roughness. I am tring to find my issus.

Just following to see development.
Not that my ELM327 based adapter supports SSM.

Go

@denny Got the debugs for the latest version, thanks – will be looking into this as it’s a bit weird that it’s working here and not on your vehicle

I have a 97 Subaru with an intermittent electrical fault. Hoping with SSM support I will be able to catch the offending sensor in the act. Good luck get it going and thank you for your effort! This is possibly one of the best apps I have seen!
