Hi sparks,
If you haven’t already done so, can you send me a latest debug, with the lastest version on the android market (uploaded this morning GMT) that’ll help me see what is going on, thanks!

What exactly was the fix to be able to work around the HTC Desire problem?

Hi,

Torque is by far the most goodlooking OBD reader till now. I am using OBD scanners a few years now, 2 on my HP Ipaq, 3 on my laptop, 1 on my Nokia e51 and 1 on my Nokia N800. So I think I know a few things about OBD scanners. No other OBD reader has the looks and options Torque has. Most of all I like the relaxed gentle move of the dial needles. Not important but I like it very much.
Torque was (after astro and barcode reader) the first app installed in my new Desire (came from a Hero) it was not working because the bluetooth problems.
Yesterday downloaded it again and tried today. Worked really nice. Unfortunately after using it, it was not easy to close the program. On top still the symbol of the obdscanner connected. Switching bluetooth off still connected. Restart Torque and a warm reboot appears. After the warm reboot a have to do a full reboot to get the phone working again.
But I leave it on my Desire. If I have to use it a reboot is not the biggest problem.
As soon as this problem is solved for sure I have to buy it. And hope I can pay with paypal
(maybe a clock dial)

Regards,

Willem

Hi,

The Torque did close when you quit it – however there is a bug (that I think in the version about to be released might have fixed it) whereby the notification was left behind. Check the market in about an hour for a new version *hopefully* this will fix it for you.

Hi,

Yes Torque closed but then problems arrived. Installed the new version, tried, so far no problems. Just bought the app…

Welllll not 100% perfect.

Yesterday driving home I started Torque to see the GPS Speedo. bluetooth OBD was not connected to the car.
Worked like it should be but this morning No connection with my carkit and a warm reset and not coming up like normal. Has to pull the battery…

I think thats going to be down to the bluetooth stack to be honest as sometimes even I have to reboot to get things back to the way they were on my nexus one – although since I have upgraded to FroYo(android 2.2) though this hasn’t happened so I’m rather hoping that bluetooth was improved.

Hey hoppi05 I have a question….
I have a us ep 3 and was wonder do all the gauges and displays work
Do they all have data being transfered? Only half show up and work
For me…also if you click the setting to allow for faster data transfer
Does it work for you?

Thanks

Hi there EP3N3WP well i cant remember what engines the US SI’s have over here we have the K20 block but i do see what your saying… on the all widget data i do not get much in fact its a good few short of the bottom of the widget screen? from what i remember i get
accl
revs
speed
throttle
MPG
load
coolant
intake temp
and i think intake pressure

i think that is all? wether this is the honda ECU not giving much up? or the software isnt seeing everything?

as i said i have dropped my debug and data to the dev’s so hopefully they can provide a better answer?

what are you seeing?

also i have tried this on a 2000 JDM Subaru Legacy and it could not find the ECU? but it did work on a UK Colt CZT…

also is you green indicator light flashing slowly when connected? when i was in the colt the led flash alot fast?

hope that little lot helps….

Hello!
I am one of the people who seem to be having problems with their desire… However, it’s not that I can’t get the phone to connect with the bt obd dongle, but I can’t even pair the two of them. The phone doesn’t see the obd adapter at all.
Has anybody else had the same problem?

Thx

Hi,

I’ve got a UK Vodafone HTC Desire on 2.2, also having issues with Torque (paid version). Using an ebay OBD2 adaptor, doesn’t appear to have any status LEDs or such like on it.

I can see and pair with the adaptor (says “Paired but not connected” but I understand that’s fine?) and Torque seems to find the adaptor and under “Adapter Status” from the opening screen it shows “Connection to Adapter” as “Yes” but “Connection to ECU” always says No. Occasionally if on the opening screen I get “No response from OBD adapter” and am advised to check it or restart the phone. There’s nothign to check really (it is plugged in) and I’ve restarted the phone.

I’ve tried setting “faster communication” and “disable ELM327 auto timing” to on in the settings and even tried the “alternate OBD header” setting under the car profile bit. Still no joy.

The car in question is a 55-plate UK-spec Seat Leon Cupra R so that’s the Golf Mk4 platform, I believe the ECU is an ME7.

Hope someone can help!

Great work Ian – it works perfectly!!!! (Phone = Orange UK HTC Desire, Car = 07 plate Renault Megane R26)

I am so impressed with this app, and with your commitment.

Well done.

I have now installed the paid version. This is an absolute bargain at the current price – I would be happy paying at least 5 times as much.

For reference, I have used several OBD programs for displaying live data, and Torque simply blows the others away. No contest.

BigMat, which OBDII reader did you buy? Cheers :)

Hi!

I’ve bought the Torque Pro and installed on an HTC Desire (bravo). The app works fine, but when I quit from it the phone totaly hangs up. :-(
I can only remove and reinsert the battery to reset/restart the phone.
I’ve read your note what is saying the issues about HTC/Samsung phones, and I wrote to HTC support, but they said this is a 3rd party product and the developer should solve this problem. I attached your note to my mail, and tried to explain that is not the app’s problem but the bluetooth driver’s in their device.

How can we solve this hanging problem, because it’s really annoying to remove the battery after every app. usage.

Could you please get contact with HTC and explain what is the problem with the device’s bluetooth driver?

Thanks in advance,
Nazza

Hi!

This is an issue with the phones firmware, and HTC released a fix for it some time ago – it will be worth checking for firmware updates for your device.

The pro version contains a workaround for the issue in the ‘General Settings’ in Torque – set this to ‘On’ and it should workaround the problem you are having
