There was some mention in previous posts of a passive option for passive monitor of the CAN network.

Is this something that is possible or would it be possible to add this option?

torque doesn’t do it but you can do it with some other app

like hyperterminal in the old days

and then you need to send a couple of command and it will show everything on the bus

the app is called a serial terminal

and you can see the command to send in here

but hyeperterminal isn’t going to decode the can messages.

I have a aftermarket ECU that just streams the data on the CAN bus you don’t need to request anything.
it would be nice to use Torque to monitor this Passive data

it was mentioned previously you could add a specific protocol for CANBUS to the protocols list (in the vehicle profile) that would drop Torque into a passive monitoring mode, would also need to be able to create custom pids that didn’t require a obd2 mode and pid request.

any chance it’s possible to implement this?
Thanks

you don’t need to habe an aftermeket ecu to have some stuff on the can bus

now a day there is tonne off stuff in there …the hardest part is to decipher it

Very interesting qestion. I may do csv file for my car with comlet defenition of all system frames. But I not sure that torque may work in a passive mode.
May the Harley protocol help me to read data from BUS in ATMA mode.
