Has anyone attempted to use Torque with a Harley-Davidson Motorcycle?

What connector (bluetooth preferred) should be used? Do I need to make my own cable connector for this to work?

Thanks,

Daurwid

There is an app for that already. It doesn’t do much but check it out. Harley Droid is its name I think.

I would need to know the protocols used for Harley’s if they are not OBD2 compatible.

If they are OBD2 compatible and have the diagnostic socket, then the app should work ‘out of the box’

After a decent search on “Harley Droid” nothing like what you are talking about came up. Do you have a link?

Nevermind, I found it. However it is not nearly as good as Torque.

There are however, instructions on how to build a cable to link to the Harley. It seems that it’s the same Bluetooth device used for Torque on other motorcycles so it looks like this should work with a Harley.

Any new updates on this. I’d love to use torque for my harley but it doesn’t work. I thought it was my adapter but discovered it’s the app. The app harleydroid does work but not nearly as good as torque. From my understanding the harley is obd2 compliant. In the app when I do a adapter diagnosis it says it is connecting to my adapter but communication with ecu I’d be happy to help you test any possible solutions. Thanks.

Here is a link showing how the Bluetooth is wired into the harley. Only 3 wires are used. Maybe yhatdthat’s why torque doesn’t work. Possibly a handshaking issue that’s used on the other pins. This only uses a ground a send and a power.

Here are protocols for Harley-Davidson:

It uses J1850 (OBD2).

28 1b 10 02 xx xx : rpm, xxxx = rotations/minute * 4
48 29 10 02 xx xx : speed, xxxx = km/h * 128
48 3b 40 xx : gear going in neutral if (xx == 0xA0), going off neutral if (xx == 0x20)
: clutch engaged if (xx & 0x80)
48 da 40 39 xx : turn signals, xx = 1,2,3 for left/right/both
68 88 10 03 : check engine indicator off
68 88 10 83 : check engine indicator on
a8 3b 10 03 xx : current gear, xx = 1,3,7,15,31,63 for gears 1-6
a8 49 10 10 xx : engine temperature, xx = degrees Celsius + 40
a8 69 10 06 xx xx : odometer, xxxx = ticks, each tick = 0.4 meters
a8 69 10 86 xx xx : same as above, but a wraparound occured
a8 83 10 0a xx xx : fuel consumption, xxxx = ticks, each tick = 0.00005 liters
a8 83 10 8a xx xx : same as above, but a wraparound occured
a8 83 61 yy xx : fuel gauge, x = level (0-15)
: low fuel light on if (yy & 0x80), off if not.

I just have torque lite. I was waiting to see if they could get it working for Harley motorcycles before I bought the full version.

hello,
I’m french (so please, excuse my poor language) and i would like to use Torque on my device galaxy s4.
A have an 07 electra glide.

I see that j1850 protocle is streaming by ECU, so what it lacks for torque works ?

Thank you
