Any update on working with J1939? I have a Mast Motorsports M120 ECU that uses J1939 and I’d love to be able to use Torque with it.

Hi,

I’m also waiting for CAN J1939, in order to use Torque pro in a DAF truck XF and CF

Does there something coming on that ?

Hervé

Salut,

J’attends aussi pour la CAN J1939, afin de pouvoir utiliser Torque pro dans un camion DAF XF et CF

Est-il quelque chose à venir à ce sujet?

Hervé

Hi!

I have a simulator, and have had some success talking to it so I now have a vague idea about PGNs and how they work (how to talk J1939). I haven’t touched on fault codes yet (still got some reading to do when I have some time).

It’s not going as fast as I would have liked. I’m very aware that you /really/ want the fault code reading for it as that’s probably going to be the most useful to people

Just joined the forum to let you know that I bought the app and a BT scanner because J1939 might be coming.

Keep up the hard work, I greatly appreciate it. Being able to read codes w/o OEM software on trucks that my shop works on will be a life saver!

Any update? Have an aftermarket ecm that uses this protocol and would love to see it work for reading data. If so could be a huge group of people it would cater too.

I’ll be willing to donate a C note to anyone that can get the J1939 interface working. I see that there are other Android apps using J1939 so it’s not impossible.

Hi

Had a play with J1939, I have an emulator for it, so yes it should be possible, though as I don’t have any ‘heavy’ kit here to test it with I will be relying on other to send debugs once I’ve added support

I have a few more things to do first (still!) though have got a fair few out of the way with in the last 2 weeks. I’ll try to get this done in the next 2 to 3 weeks (or at least get the basic implementation done so you can see things like RPM)

J1939 is a different beast to the can networks usually in consumer vehicles, so it’s not that much of a small job to do

Would also love to use torque for J1708/j1587 cat diesel. What hardware do you use to get the signals from the 6-pin or 9-pin to the android? Only one I saw was Bluefire J1939/bluetooth for beaucoup bucks.

Hi!

Sorry for being quite late with this – it’s on my priority list for this year. The only thing I need to get out of the way first before I can start on it is the TorqueWidget update(which is 99% done) and some fault logging to file stuff which should take no more than a day (plus I had a new arrival to the family just after chistmas!) :) – sleepless nights ahoy!

J1939 is a little different, so initially it’d be great for feedback when I first get support into the app,(as it’s bound to be differnet somehow than the test module I have here) hopefully, if everything goes to plan then you should see this start to happen towards the end of February (and sooner)
