The problem must be in the Volvo comms. I tried Torque today on three other vehicles, two GM and a Dodge, and all three worked as expected. I’ll check my other Volvo tomorrow and see if it is different.

I noticed that the responses from all three vehicles started with the id of the ECU and not the longer code sent by the Volvo. Maybe that as something to do with the problem?

I believe Torque is not parsing the
encapsulated message correctly for
the Volvo’s protocol.

Hopefully Ian is looking further into
the problem.

The strangest thing is that it seems to parse OK at times but on the next update it goes away or gets the wrong bytes.

Is your adapter error count still
reading zero errors/faults for the
Volvo?

Some cheaper adapters can work successfully
with some protocols but not with another.

Edit:

You might try turning Headers OFF and
CAN Auto Formating ON:

ATH0
ATCAF1

Having Headers ON seems to interfere with the
CAN Auto Formating which Torque is able to read
for CAN 29 Bit protocol using multiframe
messages (x:).

Hope this helps others reading this thread.

Note: At the time of this edit drop box no
longer supports public links for pictures :-(.
