is there a way to get torqe working with my (Australian) Ford Fairmont AU 1999?
i have Bluetooth ODB2

In torque settings:
Bluetooth Enabled (ticked)
Connection to adapter (Ticked)
Connection to ECU (!Warning)

Apparently, your vehicle has an OBD2 port but the communication is not OBD2 compliant.

Hi I recently downloaded this app

and bought a bluetooth Vgate OBD Scan tool

I’ve connected it to my phone, phone seems to communicate with adaptor, however it cannot find Car ECU

My car is a 2004 Toyota Camry Altise

the adaptor plug cover says its OBDII ( guessing that means its complient)

car ignition was on, engine was running

I’m at a loss to knowing what i’m not doing right…

can anyone help?

From my experience, I have a 0 bluetooth adapter and a bluetooth also. The expensive one has nice features and never give me a problem to connect bluetooth/ECU. The cheaper one is hit & miss and give me fustrations but I still manage to get it to work with lots of tinkering. Bottom line, you get what you pay for. I have two OBD2 adapter for two different cars. I have swapped the adapters and the frustrations follow the adapter.

Tell me, this device http://www.scantool.net/scan-tools/elmscan5-compact.html will work on a tablet with Android 2.3?

It should work. I bought from them two versions of bluetooth adapters and both work. IMO, they make solid devices, excellent customer support.

I also strongly suggest a bluetooth connection. The compact MX version is very nice.

I used this (PLX Kiwi bluetooth) on my Mini Cooper to check and reset a check engine light, it worked fine. The light came on a few weeks later, I was going to reset the light and I couldn’t find the button on my phone app ( free torque) to reset the check engine light. Where is it? On my other car, a Chevy HHR, I had a check engine light come on. I plugged the PLX in to read the codes and got the code, but could not reset it, no option. How do you distinguish between vehicles? How do you setup for different vehicles? Is there a detailed owners manual? Using a Samsung Galaxy S-3

Hi: Well take is easy on me, first post.

I installed Torque Pro on a Samsung S3 and borrowed a Bluetooth adapter to try this App out. I have a 2013 Ford F350 with a 6.7 diesel. I understand now that Torque Pro might not work with my Ford truck because the new Fords communicate with the IDS format. Could some one confirm if I’m not going to get this to work? I had a 2008 6.4 and it drove me nuts that I couldn’t monitor some engine parameters and I thought this would be cool and easier to switch between vehicles.

Thanks in advance.

Post Re: General FAQ - Data volume s bb /Mb
on: September 2, 2013 (GMT)

I need to log data for 5,000km run in period and your app and web access looks great, but now I need to get an android device that works with the app and is also on the vehicle manufacturer’s compatible list, and an appropriate data plan to upload. So my questions are:

1. Is there a list of supported or unsupported Android devices current as of Aug 2013?

2, I want to hold RPM and engine temp data, what data volume should I anticipate ie how many kb for an hour of running assuming a 1 sec sample rate?

Thanks
Paul

Where can I get a good dongle for my car? I just received a ELM 327 from Amazon THEN ordered up TOURQE and according to the return address it was shipped directly from china. Now I read on FAQs there are cheap china knock offs….grrrrr….Who are they knocking off and what is the best small dongle that actually works?

Ian, this app works really well for me. The TorqueSync I downloaded per instructions used to work but now no longer enables recorded video trips to be loaded to my desktop computer which is synced to my tablet. Also not able to encode old recorded trips. My table does record the video but without the instrument icons super-imposed on the screen. Please help.

I’m new so forgive me for asking is what I guess a often-asked question. In Torque when it requests to find your OBDII adapter mine searches to no avail. I did get my adapter to work with another app so I know it works. Is there some way to manually load the code in to have torque accept and read the adapter?

Just found out that Firefox does not allow the java script needed for the encoding program to function. You must use IE as a browser to download and install the xuggle and java programs.

The tracking device was really in the way on my truck and I wanted to relocate it behind the dash. After looking at several extension cables, I decided on this one. Only 10 dollars on Amazon. Thought it may help others that have the same issue.

Torque V 1.8.24 shows as Protected App and Locked on HTC One SV, C525c. Android version 4.1.2.
App2SD+ shows Torque as locked.
App Backup & Restore Ver 3.1.1 shows Torque as Protected App….cannot be archived as apk file.
Uninstalled, cleaned up and reinstalled, and still locked.
