Post 2013 Ford 6.7 Diesel
on: August 31, 2013 (GMT)

Hi Forum Members

This is my first post and a few days ago installed Torque Pro on my Samsung G3 and borrowed an adapter. I’ve been reading through post for a few days now. I have a 2013 Ford F350 with a 6.7 diesel engine. I would like if someone using Torque Pro with the same vehicle could help me with PID that will work. I was hoping to mainly monitor the DPF and emissions temperature and pressure sensors to monitor the Regen process. Anyway even if it doesn’t work with my trucks, I think that this App is cool and have been addicted to connecting it to every vehicle I can.

Thanks in advance.

No one?

I see the Edge CTS monitors the 6.7 PIDs

Hi!

You may find that someone on a ford related forum knows this – I know there’s a few people that have worked out some of the PIDs (I need to visit those forums myself and see if I can ask to include them in an update to the app)

Thanks a lot for the replies: piermmm and Capp777:

I started showing friends the Torque Pro App and they’re hammering me for answers before I have had a chance to get up to speed. They are mechanics and I’m the Geek, so I just wanted to know if I was going to be able to get this to work for the 6.7L diesel. I was told that Torque Pro wouldn’t work with the new Ford mode 6 PIDs, but since I’m just starting myself, all I wanted to know if there was a slight chance to reach my goals before I put a lot of work into this.

Piemmmm: I now assume that I will be able to make customize ford PID’s gauges to work for the 6.7L (since others have)? I’m not sure why they work for the 2011 and not the 2013, but that will be the challenge.

Capp777: I thank you for the link to get started.

I’ll work at it till at least I won’t bother you busy folks with basic questions.

Thanks again for your reply.

To help you get going…

Exhaust Gas Temperature B1S1
Header: 7E0
Mode/PID: 22F478
(((B*256)+C)*0.18)-40
Units: °F

Please post a test response for this PID
variables B and C will need to be adjusted
ie. D and E, F and G… accordingly. This pid
appears to return multiple sensors in its
response so the trick will be identifying the
correct variables to use.

Edit:

To add pids… goto settings>manage extra PIDs
add custom or predefined list of pids.

The pid editor screen has a test response button
at bottom of screen.

Ian will have the answer to your mode 6 question
but I am curious as to what happens when you
run the test status from Torque?

I highly recommend downloading the track recorder plugin
and torque scan plugin!

Based on what I read in powerstrokenation
these PIDs may also work for you…

Please post your findings.

Thanks again:

I do have Ford documentation for OBD2 sensors and locations, I’ll start by finding the PID numbers and go from there.

I know that another 0 scanner can read these inputs to the ECM

2011 6.7 Ford

Ambient Air Temp, Accel Pedal Position, Barometric Pressure, Battery Voltage, Corrected Speed, Dist. Between Regens, Dist. Since DTC Clear, Dist. Since Regen, DPF Pressure, DPF Soot Mass, DTC Count, EGT Post DPF, EGT Pre DPF, EGT Post Turbo, EGT Post SCR/Pre DPF, Engine Coolant Temp, Engine Load, Engine Oil Temp, Engine RPM, Engine Run Time, Fuel Level, Fuel Rate, Gear with Reverse, Gear with TCL, Intake Air Temp, Manifold Abs Pressure, Mileage Coach, MPG Instant, MPG Average, Nox PPM, Regeneration Status, Reductant (Urea) Level, Time 0-60, Time 1/4 mile, Torque, Torque Solenoid Pressure, Trans Temp, Turbo Boost

So I’m old and thinking that Torque Pro should?

Some of the pids you have listed are
standard (legislated) and are probably
available from Torque if your ecu supports
it.

The remaining pids are non-standard and
may be available using the custom pid
function if you know the pids required
info… Header,Mode/PID,Equation,Scaling,
Min,Max and Units.

Unless you want to pay dearly for this info
from the OEM, the only way to find it is
through trial and error testing and searching
the web for publicly shared information.

Any luck with the pids provided above?

I have added an EGT (EGT11 pre-catalytic converter?) and Transmission Temperature custom PID and it seems to be working, I’m going to verify values with hopefully Ford equipment (tech doesn’t know it yet LOL). I will keep you updated. The EGT value I’m getting might not be right, but it does let me know when my truck is in Regen, normal driving my temperatures are around 400 degrees and when in Regen, it is over 700 degrees.

I’m going to have to take baby steps at first and I thank you and Ian with pointing me in the right direction. I don’t know the right questions to ask right now. But when I know for sure what information I get can be converted to make a custom PID, I know it will start to make sense.

This started off with me asking a tech what OBD2 Reader he would recommend me buying for out in my garage, he pulled out his smart phone and showed me the Torque Pro App an knew I would get hooked. The thing is that he knew also, I have a back ground in automation controller programming and is hoping that I’ll get all the answers to his questions LOL. Although I supervise Geeks now, I showed them Torque Pro and sitting back waiting to hear their Big Bang Theory.

It is really the challenge for me, and the need to know. The wife has already banned me from connecting to her vehicle once I showed her that she has been speeding through town LOL.

I thank you again for your help.

Process control background myself :-)

I hope you will consider posting your successful
pids for other 6.7 owners that will read this
thread. (Unless you work for the OEM).

Ian (piemmm) has developed an amazing app!

Edit:

I wouldn’t be surprised if EGT temp is
off by 40° based upon given equation.

You will love the dash cam plugin
(Track Recorder).
