hmm couldnt log in on my android today.

the last time I looked at the spreadsheet was jan 20th. so it is not up to date. might get an evening to go through the threads and update it.

Here is yeserday’s test on my 96. KOEO, using the formula’s in the 2-2-14 post.

According the the local weather the barometric pressure was 14.8 psia. The temperature was 14°F. I had the block heater plugged in though.

The throttle position PIDS didn’t respond to me pressing the gas pedal.

Thanks for the screenshot…since these numbers
are subject to change please check the list often
to verify you are still using the most up-to-date
equations.

Adjusted the IAT C Poly equation based upon your screenshot.
The differences are probably the errors between different
vehicles at this point. Note 4.0V for the sensor should be
slightly below 0 celcius.

Try adding the predefined displays for accelerator pedal position instead.

Also, I am having problems figuring what value is being
returned for [221442] in the Boost OBS Alternate pid
(since there are multiple pids using that pid number).

Adjusted the Boost OBS Alternate equation to reference value
by name.

FYI – I drive a MY1995 Jeep and cannot test these things
myself so I am totally dependent on feedback from others to
get these right.

As I am still experiencing problems accessing this forum
by phone I will be delayed with updating the posts as necessary.

With the new update of Torque, it might be worth revisiting
the original poly equations to simplify the equations to use the newly added ^ function.

Boost is deliberately adjusted to the positive side for
full use of display scaling.

I read earlier that you can’t test anything due to your Jeep being OBD-I.

I will update my app and equations for the ^ functionality and your adjustments.

I am curious to compare how they work on my ’96 top my ’97. Especially since the TP PIDs didn’t respond to me pushing the pedal in my ’96.

What four data points did you use to generate your poly equations for IAT and TFT? Also, I’m curious what you mean by the linear eqn for TFT only being +/- 8° 68% of the time.

Picture a stretched “s” tilted at an angle with a line
through it. As you move up the “s” the values will be closer
then farther away from the line depending where you are on
the curve. Now picture a standard distribution turned
vertically on the line with the mean being centered on the
line.

+/- 8 degrees is like one standard deviation on the standard distribution. 68%.

The data I modeled came from my service manuals and from the
web for the sensors typical responses.

Both linear and poly equations havent been confirmed at higher
temps yet. GW1 had posted earlier that he would be checking
against a tft temp sensor he was installing. No news yet.

I updated the equations with the latest updates from Capp. I messed with some of the throttle position stuff, but wasn’t able to get any of them to register. I have a snapshot of the latest equations below, as well as a picture from my camera at about the same time of my mechanical transmission temperature gauge for comparison.

I noticed that your Boost Alt is still reading off by

Did you change the name in the boost alternate

Thanks for the updates.

all good,
cant see anything but the first page of the thread on my phone so can only check the thread at night or over breakfast coffee.

spent most of my ‘spare’ time lately
-doing head gaskets on a friends 3.0 3vz-e toyota.
-tearing apart my core 7.3 motor to get it ready for the machine shop
-dealing with ‘troubled’ teenagers my girlfriends youngest daughter decided to get tangled up with

you know, the usual :)

For Boost Alt I did use the equation you had above, including the baro42 name. I am curious if it is supposed to be what is called the “short name” in torque, or the “long name”? I also copied it just as above, with Val{“Baro42 psia”}, so if some of that isn’t supposed to be in there then I can make changes.

The Poly transmission temp looks pretty darn close to me. I know this is still lower temps (115 – 120) but that’s as warm as mine is going to get with a 6.0 cooler on it until we get some hot weather here in Iowa, which isn’t looking like that’s going to happen a for while. If I haul a couple horses sometime in the near future I can get it then and it should be a little warmer.

I had updated the name of “Baro42” to “Baro 42 psia”, but I hadn’t replaced the gauge on the screen, so the name didn’t update. Would this have any effect on the actual calculations for the Boost Alt? I thought I added the boost alternate gauge after making the changes, but I just removed it and added it again to make sure, so we will see what it looks like if I try it out tomorrow.

Jschildm:

I am not certain of the exact syntax of the
boost alt equation: -Val{“Baro42 psia”}

If the quotes (“”) are needed?
If the short name can be used instead of the long name?
If Val is needed? (Based upon a recent Frodus post).

Ian posted Val{PID Name} where PID Name matches exactly
and is the untranslated name? Not sure what untranslated
means…

See links for math on page eight of this thread.

Since the Map Hz equation changed I am trying to adjust
the other Map based pids a little closer based on the new
Hz readings.

Adjusted IAT C Poly based upon your results.

Changed Baro27 to Hz.

I was able to get another screenshot the other day. This should be the latest equations. It appears that the boost alternate is now working correctly. To get it to work I believe I used Val{Longname}.

Jschildm:

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like the IAT Poly
has to be checked/adjusted with numbers above
0 deg C. The graph for the poly equation shows
a drop off below 0 degs C as the end of the “s” takes
a turn near that point. The linear equations
will not be accurate when the temps reach either end
of the “s”.

You may also need to readjust your EBP again since the
MAP values have changed.

Updated the IAT Poly equation based upon the latest data.

Updated the Val(…) to remove quotes.

Capp – I just realized what you meant about adjusting my EBP because you realized later it was at idle and not KOEO. I probably won’t be able to do that before I get another screen shot.

MJ – What Mode and Equation are you using for your Accelerator Position? I tried very briefly what was listed on here before with no luck.
