My compass display appears to be reading zeros
and not updating.

Is there a way to calibrate the gps bearing on a
Samsung Galaxy Exhibit or in torque?

Thanks in advance!

After attempts to recalibrate my Samsung Galaxy Exhibit phone… I found
that the GPS Bearing value continues to read zero.

Other apps with compass functions on my phone are working fine. Is
it possible that the referenced address in torque has changed for this
phone?

Again thanks for any assistance…

Still looking for help. This problem seems like
it would be basic in a stock phone.

Thanks anyway for a great app…

Update:

After starting Torque Pro gps bearing will read zero.

While running torque… Waved phone in a figure 8
pattern and noticed bearing numbers began updating.
Exited Torque and restarted only to read zeros again.

Waved phone and bearing numbers are back.

Torque is the only app with this problem. All my other
mapping apps compass bearings are fine.

Looks like Torque is forcing me to recalibrate while in
Torque everytime I use it.

Starting to feel like “Harry Potter” 😉

This problem persists now on my newer
Sansung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite tablet. Comes
and goes. Mostly zeros.

Hi!

The compass bearing changes to GPS bearing when movement is detected. If the GPS wanders then this will also be counted if the GPS wanders excessively (only bad chipsets do this).

If there is no movement then the compass switches to the magnetic sensor in the device if it is available (otherwise the GPS ‘wander’ would put the bearing all over the place).

Bearing can only be relied upon once moving. I’ll probably null this out until movement happens
