Post EGT gauges displaying data intermittently

I have set up gauges to display EGTB1S1 to EGTB1S4.
THE EGTB1S1 seems to display properly but the other 3 gauges seem to display a default value of -14.9 for S2 and -65.7 for S3 and S4 and then display what looks like proper data for a second and back to defaults for 10 seconds or more. Could this be a problem with the adapter or are the sensors at fault?
I might try the adapter in another car to see if the same problem shows up.
