Post Canbus data
on: January 31, 2022 (GMT)

I noticed there is a new option for canbus hybrid mode.

I have some data for sensors in my vehicle, but I’m unsure how to add it to torque as a gauge.

Canbus ID: 385 (Not sure if this is hex, or decimal, borrowed from a forum looking into canbus stuff. This is read data)
7 bytes per message
Interval 110ms
Byte C: Data Tire Pressure 1, Equation C/4, Unit PSI
Byte D: Data Tire Pressure 2, Equation D/4, Unit PSI
Byte E: Data Tire Pressure 3, Equation E/4, Unit PSI
Byte F: Data Tire Pressure 4, Equation F/4, Unit PSI

Canbus ID (Hex): 0x00EC (This is known equipment installed on the car)
Ethanol Sensor
Interval 250ms
CAN DATA:
Data 0 : Ethanol % = 8 bit
Data 1 : Fuel Temperature (C) = 8 bit – 40

How do i add these 6 data feeds into torque? These are all broadcasted canbus messages, no prompting needed.

Hi!

What’s the make and model of the vehicle? – you can import(then edit)and export CAN DBC files directly in/out of Torque Pro now which will then use hybrid mode (or even if you select dedicated canbus monitor mode in the vehicle profile settings, which will give a significant speed boost when you want to read can sensors only)

When you’re editing a DBC file (if you’re adapting it) you can edit the listed sensors and test them directly in the app, thereby speeding up the creation of the file

You will probably want to be on the latest beta for this as it’s a new feature in the app

I will stick with hybrid mode since i have a usb adapter.

The vehicle is a 2009 Infiniti G37.

Not entirely sure what a DBC file is unfortunately..

Am on beta. :)

A DBC file looks like this: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/icecube45/Dash_InfinitiG37/master/InfinitiG37.dbc

(which may or may not work for your vehicle)

When i try to enter 0x00EC it says “unknown problem with PID, heck data”

Thoughts?

Hi!

Yes – they’re not PIDs – you need to import the file using the ‘Import DBC file’ option in the menu

Hi!

That was actually a bit complicated to sort out – there were a number of subtle issues mainly to do with changing the frame Id to a different value (which has now been sorted out) as well as your reported bug

There is a .44 update pending review on Google which fixes a number of issues and is what I am hoping to be the stable release candidate for the next update to the main (non-beta) version

Hi!

No thanks – the bugs shouldn’t have been there in the first place – the most valuable thing to do if you want is to simply keep complaining if there’s something broke so I know to fix it :)

Okie. Here’s one for ya then..

If loading any canbus information, all pids stop responding completely. If i swap to canbus only mode, i can actually get data back from the 0x00ec device.

So, it can definitely sniff the packets. BUT hybrid mode breaks all response from anything, pid or canbus.

I also have a request: can we add a formula line to the canbus tool? Dont much like trying to convert 0-255 values mentally lol.

Hi!

Can you:

Go into the special settings, and make sure ‘enable debugging’ is turned on

Then quit and restart Torque (torque should be configured for hybrid mode before this with the setup that causes issues)

Then connect and immediately reproduce the issue

After a few seconds, go to the ‘realtime information’ screen and press the gear/menu icon and tap ‘send debugging info’ – and put your forum name in the popup box (so i can locate the debug), then press send and let me know here that it’s been sent

I’ll then get the debug which should have everything in I need to fix or let you know what’s up

Got it, thank you. I can see where the issue is and am sorting it – there will be one more update to .46 (which will probably take google an hour or so to process) and then I’m getting sleep as it nearly midnight :)
