Post ELM 327 MS/HS usb
on: January 23, 2022 (GMT)

I have a usb elm327 with the ms/hs switch. it works with the forscan app on my android phone. it also works with the WCH demo app. When I try it with Torque I get the popup box for Torque allow Torque to connect to USB save as default. nothing happens. it never opens the Torque app. But if I use the wch demo app popup box it connects right away. also if I swipe down on the phone I have a notification saying Torque is idle waiting for USB OBD adapter :35000 lo…
O YEA and I have Torque PRO. Any ideas

Hi!

No it’s just the spam filter which blocks first and asks questions later (I manually unhide posts accidentally automatically marked as spam by the system)

I’ll see if I can get hold of one of those and see if there’s an issue. As a general rule, if you’re using one, go into the Torque settings -> OBD2 adpater settings -> select the connection type as USB (at the top) and then scroll down and choose the device and baud rate that match your adapter.

After that, quit torque, unplug the adapter, then re-insert it and it should work if it’s supported (if it does or not after these steps, please let me know as I can then look at improving/updating that part)

i have almost the same adapter (also USB, with that MS switch) – works perfectly with Torque! USB speed can be set to “auto”, or to 38400 (in a hope that it will save some milliseconds when initiating connection).

OK thanks.
I have tried every baud rate. Tried uninstall reinstall. Tried removing all other scanner apps.
I do know that on my laptop the driver is ch340 and the provider is wch.cn

Hi!

The ch340 is a supported chip, so it should be working if you have followed the steps above

OK I have OCD. So I uninstalled all OBD and USB Apps. I have a lot of things that connect to my phone using USB. So I uninstalled them to. Ran a cleaner on my phone then reinstalled Torque went to settings set it to USB, Set BAUD Rate to Auto. Closed app plugged in USB ELM. I got the popup use as default app check yes.
BANG!!! APP OPPENS CONNECTED!!!!
Works perfect. Must have been something to do with all the crap on my phone.
Thankyou for all your help! And Thank you Vasilich
