Post excessive CPU load
on: January 19, 2022 (GMT)

Hello Ian,
thanks for your great app.
I use Torque already several years (changed car once already :) ). I don’t know when it has started to happen, but Torque app loads completely one of my HU’s cores, so in quadCore CPU i have always 25% load when Torque is running. First i thought that i have put too many gauges on my screen, but after some experimenting i found out that Torque loads one core completely (same 25% CPU load) even if it cannot connect to ECU (ignition OFF, so no PID refresh is happening).
How can i help to find the culprit of that excessive CPU load by Torque?
My HU: Joying on Intel SoFIA (quadcore), 2GB RAM, OBD2 adapter on PIC18F25K80 with FTDI chip connected to USB.
Thanks in advance.

Hi!

What version of the app are you using? (This is in adapter status, near the bottom of the screen)

edit: think I have found the issue – limited to USB and the way it works – I’ll see if I can improve this a bit once I’ve proved it is what I think it is on a test setup

installed 1.12.5 and confirmed that now Torque takes 5 -10% of CPU. Thanks for fixing it!
As a bonus i got PID scan speed boost from 30-35 PIDs/s to stable 50 PIDs/s.
