Over the years, I can recall numerous times when I encountered a Check Engine light on my dashboard instrument display and I would either ignore it until something went wrong and I had to get my car to my mechanic, or until I would go for NYS Vehicle Inspection and be told that I had to have the issue resolved in order to pass the inspection test. In some cases, the issue causing the Check Engine light can be simple and in other cases way more complicated. Regardless of the cause, it would be nice to have some idea of the details of the issue prior to visiting the mechanic. Not to say that all mechanics are dishonest, but in many cases, we become the victim of a “lack of knowledge” robbery and lose everything in our wallet :-).

The VXDAS NT510 Professional OBD2 Scanner seems advanced enough for the professional mechanic to start to investigate the issue and useful and informative enough for the less knowledgeable to walk into the mechanic shop and at least sound like – “Hey!! I have some knowledge about what’s wrong with my car”!!

2013 Expedition with Samsung 10″ Tablet…

Close up of Display

I’m using the app to monitor vehicle for towing and regular driving.

How did you get the gear selector to show up like that?

Here is mine on an older Motorola Droid I bought on eBay. Still trying to figure out how to replicate the round, digital display that comes up by default for EGT for use with other input (the round “358” in the center of the EGT is a ‘digital display’) see my thread in the main forum if interested:

New Here. What would be good gauges to have just in general? What should I keep an eye on?

You guys skills are way above mine. I’m using a 7” Android Headunit that I replaced the base Cruze screen with and integrated the CANBUS so that the OEM dials and buttons work as if the Headunit is actually OEM. I am blown away by some of this stuff you guuys have done? Any good Cruze themes out there?

I leave my first setup
Everything is functional except wheel pressure and oil life that I couldn’t make it work, I have a new obdlink mx+ on the road to see if it solves it.
The rest is all functional.
It shows you the gear letters only when you are in that gear.
If the octane is correct, etc etc.
I just don’t like that the gears always show me 1, even if it’s in Parking.
then it shows the changes perfectly.
I tried to do various things, and the only way to hide it is by losing the 1st gear, 1=” :(
The truck is a 2011 Ford Escape XLS 2.5 automatic.
If you have something to improve it will be welcome.
I leave a link of the screen

This looks great! I wish I could get my hands on the ActiveOBD TQ plugin to pull additional information for my WRX. Since it’s not on the Play Store anymore, I guess I missed the window of opportunity to grab it.
