Post Speed PID 2 byte response
on: April 6, 2021 (GMT)

Hi all, I am in Australia and have a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. The response I get when I run the PID for speed is 2 bytes when everything I read tells me it should be just 1 byte. The 2 byte holds the actual data that needs to be read so on the basis of feedback from this group, I created a custom PID to read the 2nd byte of data and override the OBD PID to make average speeds, fuel consumption etc work. I have since replaced the factory stereo with an aftermarket Kenwood unit that reads OBD data and presents gauges -pretty cool. The problem is that it is reading the response that the ECU is providing and because it has 2 bytes of data and is reading byte A, the result is always 0. I was wondering if anyone else has seen something like this?
