Post Recalculate BHP from old driving data

Hi,

I’m currently troubleshooting a lack of horsepower problem after replacing my failed turbo on a 2005 Touran 140HP TDI.

In my current setup I have a lot of driving data without the calculated BHP in the log file. I do have vehicle speed included and would like to get an estimate of the brake horsepower from the time when the old turbo was still in good condition.

I can make a first estimate by just comparing the difference in kinetic energy of the car between two measuring points and divide that by the time difference between those two points.
But I guess there is more to this calculation. Do you also include an estimate for rolling resistance and kinetic energy accumulating in the rotating wheels for example?

the only thing that comes to my mind
is compare the rate of acceleration

speed rate of before and after can easily compared when you are in the steady state area …

at least in theory

and preferably use higner gear …they are longer and less affected by road condition
