I’m confused regarding the timing advance readings i’m getting on my 2003 Mercedes SL55 AMG.

The app is reading -22 while cruising and peaks up to about a -5 during WOT.

My understanding is that anything negative is retardation and anything positive is advanced. Is this incorrect?

not always first time i see negative number

normally it just advance
..so always positive

and knock timing is retard ..remove timing advance but is most of the time shown positive

it just result in a lower advance

but your value are weird … it’s like they a referenced to another value
