Post Re: 2013 Sienna Transmission Temp no data

I have searched this site and tried the 2182 and 21D9 PID
The 2182 does give me -40 result for the transmission while the coolant is at 160F

I have tried several different equations I found here using the A and B factors with no luck

Any help would be great

Thanks
Rob

Thanks for the reply
Can you explain a little what I need to do
I’m using 2182 in the pid
I’ve tried entering the 7e1 down towards the bottom but didn’t help
Thanks

How do you create an external PID?
Settings -> Manage extra PIDs/Sensors -> add custom PID -> OBD Header to use -> 7E1

Cintakc
I entered the 7E1 and nothing
I the replaced the 7E1 with auto and it started reading a temp
Imethod 3 is what I got working
Going to try the same on methods 1 and 2 to see if I get reasonable temp readings
Wasn’t able to test yet as it was -20F which was a sign to stop
Will report back findings
Thanks

Ok
No luck…need help

The setting Im trying

Setting 1
Mode: 2182 or 21D9
Min/max 0/325
scale factor: 1
Equation: ((((A*256)+B)*(84/1000)-480)/12)
Header: blank or auto (7E1 no data)

Results: temps all over the place

Setting 2
Mode: 2182 or 21D9
Min/max 0/325
scale factor: 1
Equation: ((((A*256)+B)*(7/100)-400)/10)
Header: blank or auto(7E1 no data)

Results: temps all over the place

Setting 2
Mode: 2182
Min/max 0/325
scale factor: 1
Equation: ((((A*256)+D)*(7/100)-400)/10)
Header: blank or auto(7E1 no data)

Results: temps all over

Any thoughts?

Thanks
Rob

It would be useful to post the raw hex response
when cold and at temperature (transmission hot).
This will help identify which bytes might contain
the data you seek.

Capp777…are you saying to export this info? if yes not sure how to do that…or just list the reading from these setting when the car is first started and then warmed up?

Thanks

When sitting in the car, go into the pid editor
and “Test” for the raw hex response under those
conditions. Then post here. Hopefully we will
recognize your TFT data.

Ok here is what I’m getting

Testing pid
Gauge 1
Results 172.4F
Command: 2182
Header: auto
Response: 7F2112 – changes to “no data” after few seconds
Variables used: A=78(hex=4E, binary=01001110)
Equation:=A*9/5+32

Gauge 2
Results 99.7 F
Command: 21D9
Header: auto
Response: 7F2112
Variables used:
A=78(hex=4E, binary=01001110)
B=0(hex=00, binary=00000000)
Equation:=((((A*256)+B)*(84/1000)-480)/12)

Gauge 3
Results 101.6 F
Command: 2182
Header: 2182
Response: 7F2112
Variables used:
A=79(hex=4E, binary=01001110)
B=0(hex=00, binary=00000000)
Equation:=((((A*256)+B)*(84/1000)-480)/12)

Have a Water coolant gauge that seems to be working and does not jump all over the place. Just to compare one snap shot in time…car running for 20 minutes
Coolant temp = 165.2 F
Gauge 1 temp = 213.8 F
Gauge 2 temp = 141.0 F
Gauge 3 temp = 142.8 F
The garage temp is about 32F right now

Thanks for you help!

Also to note I have tried the following headers
7E1 – no response
7E0 – data
TCM – no response
6A6C1F – no response

Ive updated my header from auto to 7E0…temps still bounce around

You may have more than one module
responding. Your header is likely 7E0 or
7E1.

The fact that you are getting data baffles
me since you are reporting 7F… responses.

Looking for something like 6182… for a
successful response. e.g.,

7E8046182AABB
7E9046182AABB

Please post the response for gauge 3 using
header 7E0. 2182 is not a header. Please be
careful with what you send to your vehicle
to avoid unexpected results.

A*9/5-40 is correct form for °F
A-40 for °C.

not +32 used in gauge 1 listed above.

if you have a variator, then the address of the ECU of the engine and variator 7E0
perhaps you have a fake adadpter and does not switch to the AT block
do the following:
1. add display
2. type Push Button
3. Send OBD command
4. this display configuration – Set command to send
ath1
atsh7e1
2182
5. press button Test Command

see response(s):

Updated gauge 3 to 7E0
When I tried 7E1 I got no response

Gauge 3
Results 139.2 F
Command: 2182
Header: 7E0
Response: 7F2112
Variables used:
A=100(hex=64, binary=01100100)
B=0(hex=00, binary=00000000)
Equation:=(((((A*256)+B)*(84/1000))-480)/12)
