Is it possible to read the transmission fluid temperature on the RE0F11A CVT in my 2012 Versa SV?

I am not able to read ATF temps on a Nissan Navara diesel 4×4, I suspect the engine ECU only responds to temp when it exceeds a pre-determined setting and then illuminates the dash ‘idiot’ light.
