Can anyone recommend a usb based device that actually works with torque?
Tried already 3 devices, all are detected by torque, none of them is able to connect to ecu.

Thanks.

I think it’s a problem with Torque’s USB driver – and may have been fixed in BETA version.

I wish they would hurry and release an update to fix this.

^.. ^ .. ^ ..^ B U M P ^..^..^..^

Sure would like to use my super fast “USB” adapter that I bought with an HS/MS switch on it. I could do some real neat stuff with it… especially if TorqueScan worked right again where you could email results.

Thanks a ‘Million’ @cintakc.

I hadn’t even noticed my App had updated – 11 hours ago. I will give it a try TODAY.

Well, @cintakc – I’m BACK. I rejoin the chorus – “DOES _ANYONE_ KNOW OF A USB ADAPTER THAT WILL WORK WITH TORQUE PRO?”

I tried all sorts of settings in Torque Pro (running on my Samsung S9+ Android 8 phone). NO JOY. Torque Pro apparently reads the device type. It shows USB device to connect to as “Generic FTDI USB to Serial device (6001)”. The phone & adapter icons turn blue, the car icon flashes a few times then the adapter icon flashes orange. Message pops un reading “No Response from OBD Adapter. Did you select the right baud rate?”. Phone repeats this over and over.

I tried each baud rate in turn, including ‘automatic’. I’ve tried changing tick mark on ‘Faster Communications’ and ‘alternate header’.

Only thing I have not done is try to adjust the ‘initialization string’ – would have no idea what to change or set as an initialization string.

The USB adapter I am trying to use is:

It works with my notebook and Forscan. Has an 83% 5 Star rating with many very positive reviews.

I looked in Google Play description of what was added in the new version, there are no changes for USB adapters

Try this one with an original ELM Canada IC V2.2. I have the Bluetooth version, works well, not a clone.

It’s ORDERED!

Thanks for the recomendation. Only way I can thank you is offer my research on FORD F150 if that would have any application for your use. I have ‘scanned’ every PID that responds on my 2004 F150 5.4L, and sorted out over 500 individual PIDs / Parameters / flags the PCM uses. I have worked out formulas for many- many of them. PROBLEM IS – I find there are major differences in PID assignments between vehicles (even within like models / configurations).

But if my database of FORD Pids would be of interest—- I have set up a privite email for you on my mail server. Email me at twscarp_51@devoll.com and I will send you a copy of it.

Thanks for the offer F-150Torqued, but I’m driving a 2008 Chevy Express Van 1500 4.3l, your info would not work.

Well – N O J O Y. Now I have three USB adapters that don’t work.

I restate the Question — Does anyone Know of a USB Adapter that ACTUALLY works with Torque Pro?”

The one recommended does the same thing as my previous one. I suspect there would be some magic custom setup string in Adapter Settings that would make them work. But I don’t know what it is. SO I’ve got over a hundred dollars worth of them now that DO NOT WORK – out of the box.

I quote @barney’s OP.
“Can anyone recommend a usb based device that actually works with torque?” End Quote.

I would be interested to know what device and OS your OBD-Link SX “works perfectly” with. Torque? Version 1.8.205 or earlier version? Android device type? Android OS version? Or Forscan or a version of Windows PC. I understand that Torque worked prior to some update, but I hesitate to move backwards.

I have a couple of USB OBDII cables that work fine with Windows terminal software and Forscan – but NOT with Torque Pro latest production version.

Based largely on user @cintakc participation in this thread, Gotta’ say, I _hesitate_ to run out and buy a third one, without answers to these questions, just to see if I would have the same experience you report.
