Post New Torque Pro on Old Tablet
on: July 19, 2018 (GMT)

Edit: This is a moot point as Google Play changes requirements beginnibg this Aug 2018, older API not supported anymore. /edit

Would like to try and resurrect an HTC Flyer as an in-dash tablet for torque, as well as have a dedicated media storage.
Flyer is currently 2.3.4 Gingerbread, might be able to update it to 3.2 HoneyComb, but no further.

My questions are these:
1) Installed market is way old, only a smidgeon of apps are available. Yes, the app store is called Market, not Play Store. Will the current (Gingerbread / Honeycomb) google apps APIs be sufficient for Torque Pro?

2) If #1 is positive, would I be able to sideload Torque onto the tablet? There won’t be a constant data connection, only when I plug into the dongle (onboard WiFi will be disabled, flaky).

3) Will license verification work through the old market / google apis?

4) Should I just spent the and find a cheap 7″ tablet?

Main reason I want to use the flyer is that the aluminum case acts like a massive heat sink, I have yet to have the darn thing overheat even when too hot to hold and screen has turned black.
