Post Customize night theme
on: June 27, 2018 (GMT)

Hi guys, I’ve been a keen user of Torque now for a few years but only last week I discovered that I can actually change things like the color scheme of my dials using the properties.txt file in the themes folder on my device. On top of that I found out about the day/night setting of the themes.

Now comes the hard part (at least for me): I like to have the same theme day or night (ultra minimalist red, to be specific) but I like to alter the color of the night theme slightly to better fit the car (the white text of the standard scheme needs to glow blueish at night), (how) is this possible? I can only find and alter a “day” properties.txt file..

Thanks very much!

There should be a hidden folder…

/.torque/themeDirNight

which contains the same files for your
night time theme. (after you select a
night time theme).

displayTextValueColour=#99CCFF ?

displayTextTitleColour=#99CCFF ?

displayTickColour=#99CCFF ?

I was about to ask the same question…

Why isn’t this documented on the wiki?

There is some information on themes
on wiki…

First of all, thanks for the reply.

I’ve been searching very deep, turend my whole device upsidedown (as a matter of speaking obviously 😉 ) but there is no nightfile on it. What am I doing wrong?

I have to say that I’ve read the wiki on themes top to bottom before asking it here but there is no mention of this on it.

It is a hidden folder so you need to tell
your device file app to display hidden files.

I am assuming you have set the Torque toggle
to use different themes for day and night
and chose your desired theme for day and
night under Torque Pro’s Themes settings.

In your case you would select the same theme
twice then edit the properties.txt file for the
night time theme.

I am using two different themes and the edits
work for my device.

Right, by restarting the device (I’m a professional driver so I use torque daily for many hours and I actually have a device especially for it in my car) for the first time in more than a year I’ve found the .themeDirNight file and made all the needed changes. Thank you very much for the help there :)

Next question haha,
I wanted to change the start and stop angle of my Turbo boost dial for the day theme to the same setting as the night dial. I tried to do this by copy and paste the code but it doess’t work.

dialStartAngle_ff1202=50 dialStopAngle_ff1202=90

Is there some sort of error in this code?

The Turbo Boost and Vacuum gauge uses
negative scaling so the Start/Stop angles
are not supported yet I believe.

What I did was break the Boost and Vacuum
into separate gauges using custom pids which
used only positive scaling of 0-30.

I will try to find the thread with my gauge info

https://torque-bhp.com/forums/?wpforumaction=viewtopic&t=9644.0

Example from my properties.txt

dialStartAngle_0b=35
dialStopAngle_0b=35

Make sure there are no trailing spaces
after the last digit.

Your angles seem a bit odd to me but
I’m not sure the look you are trying to
achieve.
