Hi guys, I have an inexpensive V-gate ELM327 Scan dongle, probably 8 years old now (no part number on it), using Torque Lite on a Samsung Tab 3.

These components together all worked great on my 2004 Subaru STi, has never worked on my 1997 V8 Dodge Dakota (research shows all Dodge use ISO 9141 protocol)

I’ve read a few threads about PIDs and frankly it scares me to attempt such a modification without further investigation and understanding.

The current product description I can find on-line for the V-gate shows as Ver 2.1 and indicates that it does supports ISO 9141-2 (5 baud init, 10.4 kbaud) that said, I’m not sure what version my old dongle is AND IF there is a potential difference between ISO 9141 and ISO 9141-2, I would suspect my old dongle is Ver 1.0 being so old might be a problem.

Now has anyone been able to successfully get the V-gate ELM327 and Torque Lite to work with an 97′ Dodge ?

I’m not against trying another dongle IF someone has already bridged this condition before. Would be nice to make what I already own work as is.

Thoughts ? and Thanks

long time car guy
