I am having trouble with the Torque PID when hooked to an ’04 f250 w/6.0l diesel. At first EOT did not read at all. I tried your formula and EOT read 532 f on an engine that had been running earlier in the day and sat for a few hours – I’m thinking EOT should have been below 160 f.

((((A*256)+B)/100)+40)*(9/5)+32
Tried it again yesterday with a cold engine as a baseline.
ECT: 91.4
EOT: 455.2

The reason I bought this app is for mapping ECT and EOT as the truck has coolant puking problems.

Ant help with another EOT formula will be appreciated.

Check page 3 of this thread…

The equation should be ((((A*256)+B)/100)-40)*(9/5)+32 NOTE– “-40”

You may need to change the temp from “C” to “F” (can’t remember- I don’t have my phone right now to check)

Make sure you have the correct amount of ” ( ” in each segment.

( ( ( ( A * 2 5 6 ) + B ) / 100 ) – 40 ) * ( 9 / 5 ) + 32

I put a space in between each thing in the equation above for easier reading as you enter into the PID equation. The spaces are not to be used, just makes it easier.

The first time I was entering this equation I had too many (((( at the beginning and didn’t realize it!!

I entered the formula exactly as amdriven shows (without spaces) and I get no reading at all. Torque is coupled and connected as it does show other parameters.

Anyone have any ideas?

There are 2 Engine oil gauges in the list, make sure you are setting the right one up. For us, it’s name is “ENGINE OIL TEMP”. Not, “ENGINE OIL TEMPERATURE”.

Check that first.

Make sure all the things in the edit are as follows:

pid = 221310

short name = EOT

min. = 0.0

max. = 300

scale = x1

unit = C (yes, C, it will convert)

This next equation was provided by the developer as a fix for the “Track log”. Again, with spaces for easier reading. This is a different equation than you first had.

obd header = AUTO

This does work for me. I have compared it to my Scangauge II readings.

I entered all data as you have listed and the EOT egauge on Torque give no reading at all.

This whole time I have been editing Engine Oil Temp. Just went through the list again and cannot find a second one titled Engine Oil Temperature, therefore I believe I am working on the correct one. I have very careful to enter the data exactly how you recommend.

Any other ideas?

can you see any “raw” data from the sensor when using the PID … forget the formula until you confirm the sensor has been located

This morning, while connected to the ECU, I went into extended PIDs and settings, found oil temp and clicked edit and then test and it read:

Result for equation: 188.348
Command: 221310
Response: 7F2212
6213103164

For a few moments, the lower number under “response” was moving or fluctuating.

Then I went to the gauge page and EOT read nothing.
Went back into extended PID’s, found EOT and clicked edit, then test. This time result for equation read: No Response

When you ask about “raw data” where would I find this?

The developer is real slow in responding, only responded once and gave me a you tube video to watch and I was already past that point.Disappointing.

When you set up a new display/gauge and you go to add a display … in the list of displays/gauges there is a “raw data” display that can be used

see if this provides the data

I did not find EOT in the raw data list.
If there is a sensor for EOT (which I know there is) should it be on the raw data list regardless of which formula used?

I just got my OBDII bluetooth adapter and Torque app the other day. Got alot of the PID’s working for my 07 f250 6.0 diesel and just first wanted to say a big THANK YOU to the developer and all that have put in alot of time (JesterxHead) to help all of us with our 6.0 diesels!

I a have read most of the different forums including this one on what extended PID’s are available for the 6.0 but not much on what the data range should be and how to use the information.

For example what does my EGR number mean? I’ve noticed when I am at idle the number is pretty low, when I’m doing 70mph the number is alot higher. Is this good or bad? Having information is good, knowing what to do with it is even better!
I know from reading other threads that if my EOT and ECT are more than 15% different it means my oil cooler is clogged or getting close, but I found this information in threads that were not related to the Torgue app.

It would be great to see a list of all the extended PID’s and next to each of them what the normal range of data should be along with a description of what the data can be used for.

Here is a short list of what I mean….
HPOP: At Idle this is around 575, at 70mph it’s around 1500
FMP: what’s this range suppose to be and what’s the data used for?
Fan: what’s the normal range for the fan speed?
MAF: what’s this range suppose to be and what’s the data used

If you have more PID’s you want to list here and what the a normal data range should be and what the data is used for would be great!

Here is a post on another forum. If it is hard to read, I will post another link that shows a post I did adding values to Scangauge II gauges.

You can find each gauges values. Now, these are taken at engine at operating temps. High idle for these is 2500 rpm.

FICM MP readings should be taken not only when hot, but when cold. I found my FICM was starting at too low a voltage when cold. AND, it would go up to 48v in about 10 seconds and would be fine when hot.

When I want to “Add a Display”

it takes me to which gauge I want,

Then it takes me to the list of pid’s to choose from.

In that list, there are 2 EOT ‘s to choose from:

Engine Oil Temp

Engine oil Temperature (do not use this one)

You might be editing one and using the other.

Start fresh by displaying Engine Oil Temp

Heck, you probably have already done this, (and probably many times too LOL) I’m just trying to figure out why mine is working on my 6.0 and yours isn’t.

This gauge was a problem from the beginning. But, it does work.

With coolant puking problems, you might need to add a pressure gauge to the hose that runs from top of radiator to overflow tank and see what the pressure is doing.

Got another question, when I try to check my Fault codes i always get a message that says…
Your vehicle may not be OBD2 compliant OR the vehicle ECU has not been enabled by your dealer/manufacturer for OBD2 access.
Torque will probably not be able to retrieve information due to this problem.

After I click the Ok but it does the fault code scan then always returns 1 fault that has no meaning from what I can search for.
