Here is a minimal set of commands that are needed to diagnose your car
ATSP6
ATH1
ATSH6F1
ATCRA612
ATCEA12
22F150

and a full set of
ATSP6
ATH1
ATSH6F1
ATCRA612
ATFCSH6F1
ATFCSD12300F02
ATFCSM1
ATCEA12
22F150

but your adapter does not understand such commands(ATCEA12, ATFCSH6F1, ATFCSD12300F02, ATFCSM1)
You can check them again in the terminal

I’m about to buy an Autel MaxiSys to help me diagnose cars for my job. I’d be glad to help with any mechanical questions, but I don’t know if the Autel can see BMW PIDs like the ones you’re alluding to. What do you recommend I research to understand this better?

Just roll with a good ELM327 adapter for diagnostics. You will need special software and cables to be able to code ECUs

Advanced diagnostics is only availalbe with special software -or- just to be able to query a special value of a sensor you will need a special set of init commands only.

Hello
I recently installed this fantastic app and I have the exact problem with my BMW F20. I can’t get the oil temp. although it is available through the hidden menu of my car.
Do we have a solution yet?

Try the following:
30CD01
45170102
4B600102
44020102
0x4408
0x5822

…or if you could log a parameter (put 1 parameter on the dash of carly) and psot the snoop results I could check my database for all matching PIDs.

since you’re on a F-Model my E-model init commandset won’t work 😉

Oh and before i forget to mention it: I’ve updated the first post with all the infos about the n47 engines.

I know that a different protocol, I have the emulator responses from the computer, I wanted to check on your E model, as well as F20

I’m in the emulator can give any answer, but the scanner, the software will accept only the real answer from ECU

1st) 6F1 12 02 1A 80
2nd) 6F1 12 04 18 02 FF FF

Hi
I am very busy lately. I am in search to buy the right adapter but i don not know how. We don’t have shops to try so probably will buy from eshop. If I have to go to an expensive one meaning more than 20 euros I probably going to buy the carly adapter which it does the job for sure. I dont know if it will cooporate with torque app for sure though.

@ FnTX

— What exactly its of the following PIDs do?
30CD01
45170102
4B600102
44020102
0x4408
0x5822

— Which one is for Oil Temperature?

–> In case that I will get an adapter (I ordered the Carly one) which can sent these commands will the following custom PID work for Oil Temp?

Mode PID:XXXXXXX
Min-Max Value = -40 | 215
scale X1
Equation = A-40

— Did you get a skype message regarding this thread?

Thanks for the help all (especially cintack)

I picked every possible sensor out of my database which is related to oil temperature. Could you please check what’s your cars engine code?

I’m using the carly adapter together with torque for quite some time and it works flawless.

My N47D20 ECU from 2009 doesn’t respond to these commands or at least simply nothing happens at all.

There is a chance however to test these on a E92 M3 and a 120i but not any time soon

my cars spec regarding engine
2013 BMW F20 116i
engine 1600cc
Type N13

From Wiki
*BMW N13
In 2011 BMW released turbocharged 1.6 Prince engine [11] (called the N18 engine for the Mini Cooper S and JCW and called the N13 engine for BMW applications). The engine has direct injection, twin-scroll turbocharger and now with variable valve lift (previous version was not VVT). The N13 is sold alongside the larger displacement BMW N20 turbocharged straight-4 engine. The engine complied with the EU5 legislation.

Sadly I have no access to this engine so now is your turn!
To determine a working set of PIDs you need to BT-Snoop log a session with carly while checking the parameters for oil temperature for example.

Just start Loggin, run carly, add the parameter, log the results for several seconds and shut it down again.

Please post the results and I will have a look into the database. Please also note because you’re on a F-car a suitable adapter is necessary in order to gain any meaningful results.

I still waiting foo the carly adapter (probably will be here next Monday)

Can you explain further what I have to do for “BT-Snoop log a session”

I will use carly adapter, but do I need carly program also?
or I will connect with torque pro?

Please (if possible) give me a step-by step guide because all these are way out of my general knowledge

Thanks

Carly adapter is here. The same for carly application.
I do have correct figures when I ask for Oil Temperature

However I don’t know what to do in order to give the required data. I did log the application results in the EngineReport.txt but it has only the time every 2 seconds and the numbers of oil temp accordingly

I don’t think this can help you.. Should I monitor with another application?

Thanks
