Cool – I’ll be adding support for the wake up in the next update (1.6.24 likely)

(just seen your post on jk-adventure :-))

I have a similar post on JkOwners as well. It’s a great app. Thanks for the hard work and continued support.

Does equation ((A*256)+B)*(1/64) yield correct results
for 22B010? (Units °F)

Just curious… (this is the correct formula which
also matches quote below).

Edit:

Quote from mfifield on February 21, 2012
This might help out. I just read it on a Ram forum:

There is already a sensor in your transmission that reads sump temperature. If you have a scan tool that will read data using PIDs, you can program it to read this thermistor. The PID was A01B on older trucks, and it is B011 on newer trucks (2007 and later, I am sure, but I don’t know how much earlier this code was used). This should return a signed 2-byte value with a scale factor of 0.015625. So you read a 2-byte value (like 11968) and multiply it by 0.015625 to get the measured sump temp in °F (in this example, 187°F).”

Anyone know where the sensor is taking the temperature from? My temps never rise over 130*F and that seems a bit low. I’m not running a trans cooler either.

Which equation are you using that yields
130°F?

Using the Pids wego posted on page 2/The one on JKOwners.

PID = 3e01
Equation = A – not sure if this is needed
OBD Header = 7DF -not sure if needed either.
The second PID pulls the tranny info
PID= 22b010
Unit type = F
Equation = A

I need to check again, but IIRC when I ran Torque in the morning after the Jeep sat overnight, the Torque trans temp wasn’t the same as the outside temp.

Can you try the two byte formula I posted above?. This is
the correct formula that has been used successfully
on the other forums.

The jkowner’s site is showing A as °C.

Temp read 1021F* after the Jeep was sitting a while, don’t think I plugged in the right numbers. Used:

PID = 3e01
Min value = 0
Max value = 100
Scale Factor x1
Equation = A
OBD Header = 7DF

PID= 22b010
Min value = 0
Max value = 100
Scale factor = x1
Unit type = F
Equation = ((A*256)+B)*(1/64)

I’ll be sorting out the need for the ‘3e01’ pid soon in an update- sorry it’s taken so long (it’s a bit of a complicated change to do properly rather than hack it into the code and I need to have a block of time to do this without distraction)

I’m planning for this to be added in about 2 weeks time (I may add the jeep transmission PID in as well to the ‘predefined list’ part of the app as well for everyones ease once it’s done)

Thanks for trying…

I noticed that wego on jkowners
was saying that equation A had to be set as °C
in the editor.

Forgot to mention I tried both C and F for the Units. When I used C, the temp was 18xx.

I also can’t edit the scale factor like that post you posted using “0.015625.” The scale factor has a menu with the numbers “x1, x10, x100, x1000, x0.1, x0.01, x0.001” only being selectable. Even so, the trans temp number would be in the 20s-30s using “0.015625” as the multiple.

The (1/64) equals the 0.015625 described. No
scale factor needed. This was also the correct
interpretation of the code listed on page [2]
of this thread.

For your original equation given by wego…
I noticed on jkowners site that he was instructing
others to set equation A as °C in the pid editor
and letting Torque convert to °F.

Your original post showed °F in the editor?

What year is your jeep?

Ah.

IIRC I did use C at first, I just posted WeGo’s reply instead of checking my phone.

Jeep is a 2010.

Search “jeep wrangler trans xgauge codes”… Jkowners
site, books1 posting.

His was a 2010.

I tried Wego’s post again:

PID = 3e01
Unit type = C
Equation = A
OBD Header = 7DF

PID= 22b010
Unit type = F
Unit type = C
Equation = A

Jeep sat over night, outside temp was 64F, transmission temp was 62F. Last time when I checked (couple months ago) in the morning, the temps weren’t close at all. Drove across town (20 min drive, city) trans temp got up to 116F. I’ll have to do more driving but it seems like it’s working.

Thanks for the info…

If it still max’s out at 130… that would
seem lower than expected.

Edit:

Given 62°F = 17°C = 11 (hex) = A

and

Given 116°F = 47°C = 2F (hex) = A

Then if

((A * 256) + B) / 64 = °F

((17 * 256) + 128) / 64 = 70 °F

((47 * 256) + 128) / 64 = 190 °F

B contributes +/- 2 °F

What am i missing?

Edit:

Reads high (~1024°F) while in park. Normal
temperatures will display while in gear.

Has anyone been able to find the codes for a 2011 JK? This is different to the 07-10 due to some updates Chrysler did – I get a reading on Trans temp method 3 – however this is coolant temp and not trans. 22b010 doesn’t seem to work with the wakeup code…have run a full scan with torquescan but didn’t have any luck there either…. Is there perhaps a different wakeup code on the 2011?

Test these to see if you get a response…

Trans Temp 2172
Trans Temp 2130

Edit:

I read on another site that a 2011jk was successful
at reading trans temp using the 22B010 code.
(using the wakeup code 1092 listed on page [2] of
this thread).

Managed to get some time to have a play – no response on the top ones – will give it a go with 1092 as the wakeup now and report back…..

Edit: 1092 doesn’t work – sets off the ABS/Handbrake lights. 3e01 doesn’t seem to wake it up…..

Can you post a test response for
the 1092 pid?

and confirm header 7E0 was
used.

I would be interested in seeing if
we are looking at wrong variable
if this makes a difference.

Dont understand how all these other
users are not having the same problem.
