Post Toyota Hiace - Torque doesn't connect, but OBD Car Doctor yes
on: March 27, 2014 (GMT)

Hi,

I have a small problem. I use Torque with my Yaris without any problem, but it cannot connect to ECU on my Toyota Hiace (2002 D4D).

I’ve tried all type of scans, communication protocols, settings without fast communication etc.

What is really strange, that the “OBD Car Doctor free” version is able to connect to it through ISO 14230-4 KWP (5 baud init) protocol. If I choose that one in Torque, nothing happens, the car symbol is just constantly flashing.

Can anyone point me to the right direction?

Try using the “Use alternate OBD header” option in the Advanced vehicle profile settings – if that does not work then you may need to use the custom init setting

My Reply: thank you…..I have now also tried the “Use alternate OBD header”…no luck with that.

I have Techstream installed…but waiting on the cable.

How is it possible to extract the custom init string for my vehicle? (I have manually tried all the other Toyota custom init strings)

I have 2001 Hiace Super Custom KZH138V
1KZTE with 4 speed automatic.
ECU is 899661-26640 which is also KZH106G KZH106W KZH116G KZH120G
OBD2 style port driver left knee has pins 4 , 6 , 7 , 9, 13 , 14 and 16 present
23 pin Toyota diagnostic connector below glovebox has W , E1 , AB , TC , +B , TS present with WA and WB bridged
