I tested the following for STFT in my son’s
crown vic at idle…

(((A*256)+B)*(100/32768)-100)*-1.0

(A*(100/128)-100)*-1.0

which seemed to match OBD STFT min/max for both
banks. Would be curious if it works for you under
driving conditions.

((A*256)+B)*(100/32768)-100)*-1.0 -this is the same formula as (((A*256)+B)-32768)/-327.68
at the data A=87 B=AE is obtained -6.00 but should be -5.4
the value is overstated.

I looked at the answers for PID 221158 based on the program FORScan there is no linear dependence

I also look at the answers in Forscan.

The single byte A equation does yield -5.4 and
more likely mimics how OBD STFT is calculated.
The second byte B equation adds greater
resolution so the -6.0 seemed reasonable to
me.

A=A0
B=00
Rezult -20.00
How to explain it?

Not sure because with both equations
and A0 00 results are -25.0 by calculator.

..”Also, suggest having a MIN() and MAX() that returns a running minimum or maximum of a particular PID.”

How I can read running MIN and MAX value of any PID?
Functions MIN(A:B) and MAX(A:B) compares two numbers

Quote from vl_vic on April 18, 2018
A=80
B=00
rezult=0.00

INT16(A:B)=8000[WORD]
8000 = DEC32768 – 32768 = 0
0/-327,68 = 0

Just have a look at the equation steps when using the test PID window.

Something seems odd to me. Where do you take these values from exactly? I do understand subtraction of 32768 but what about the division by -327,68 which is equal to (32768 * -10)?

(((A * 256) + B) -32768) / – 327,68 -this is only an assumption. I do not know the real formula

I ham using a Samsung Galaxy tablet- the screen keyboard doesn’t seem to register decimal points. Is there a way around this- i.e., when the application asks for capacity in gallons and you input 21.1 the decimal doesn’t show-the image is 211.

I’m a Volvo enthusiast, I own three Volvo’s. A 1989 740 GLE; a 1991 940
Non-turbo sedan; a 1998 Volvo V90 wagon.

Can anyone help ? I’m new to adding PIDs and am just looking to add a simple PID for ethanol fuel sensor hz / percentage.

It’s a flex fuel 1999 Ranger (VIn code V 3.0 ff) with a FF sensor. 1996-2003 Tauruses use the sensor also.

What I haven’t been able to determine yet is if the PID I found is correct for the application.

PID seems to be 16ab . It should output a value between 55 and 115 hertz. ( 55 being straight gasoline 0% , and 115 hz being e85 at 85% .) Newer Flex Fuel Fords do not use the sensor and calculate it a different way.

I tried using torque scan to verify that PID, but it took over an hour and no results.
Also, I can’t get that PID when entered to give me a value.

Am I doing something wrong on the PID scan? Is my PID format correct? (2216ab ) Header necessary?

I don’t necessarily need a value in percentages, just the raw output in hertz.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

And when the pid returns a multi-line response?
How can I select the bytes?

Does anyone know if the Ford PIDs for the TPM sensors will work for Jeep? I have a ’14 jeep patriot that I would like to see what the reading look like.

Hello.
What formula I need to write to not show negative values?
If (value) is less than 0 then 0 is displayed.
