2012+ Jeep Wrangler Trans Temp

Someone made the TransTemp working on his 2012+ Wrangler JK model?

Started this 2012+ thread because for the moment this seems to be work in progress.

The Drive app has worked this out, why not TorquePro?

Followed all the steps (and different ways) of the 2007 – 2011 PID templates but doesn’t work on my one, 2013 manual transmission 2.8 CRD for the moment..:-(

If someone made it, pictures of TransTemp and Wakeup PID would be very welcome.

Some Wrangler forum users have reported
success with 2012+ JKs with…

Header: 7E1
Mode/Pid: 2130

Test this pid for a response and post
response if its successful. (While engine
is cold would be helpful at a known
ambient temp).

If you get a response from this pid the
next step will be figuring out the correct
variable(s) to use and the equation that
will be needed.

I would try L-50 °C if I have to guess without
a test response… but I could be wrong.

It worked or at least this is how it looks like.
Compared with the ambient temp, when engine is cold, all the values of oil, trans and coolant temp. are pretty much the same. The trans temp is the lowest of them all, it raise abruptly when the TC slips and stabilise or slightly raise when TC locks.
PiD shows the trans temperature in drive and reverse but in park it displays the coolant temperature.
This was tested on a 2.8crd 2012 AT Wrangler JK.

Hi!

Updated the predefined list – I think it should be A-40 (this is the normal PID for temp in C) unless it’s definitely A-50 (the note about it being the ‘lowest of them all’ tends to lean in this direction that a-50 is too much)

The only thing needing to be confirmed now is the Chrysler/Dodge method (which is PID 2103 from what I’ve managed to gather so far) – the Equation is likely something different though

Edit:

Can someone post the actual cold and running temps
to give us some idea how close the numbers are to
ambient and ideal (~175)?

The 2007-2011 TFT was about 2-3°F lower than ECT
in previous postings at ambient. L-40 would be
about 18°F difference versus L-50. Not really close?

Hi,

I grabbed few screenshots with the temperatures display (ECT, Engine Oil, Trans.Temp and IAT).
The log started from cold (the car was parked in a garage all weekend)and I posted few snapshots grabbed from time to time during the road to work. The last one is with the gear selector in park where the trans temp is replaced with the coolant temp.
I have no clue on how to attach a XLS file with the entire log so I can send it over the mail to whomever is interested.

If I can assist in any other way please let me know.
In the log I discovered that the EGT is fluctuating extremely funny (from 300 degrees Celsius to 5000).
The car was the same: 2012 2.8CRD AT Wrangler JK.

It looks like the first two pics
were in park while warming up?

If the temps were supposed to be
coolant temps while in park…
they seem to match.

Last pic matched ideal tft of ~175°F
while not matching coolant. Pic
taken at end of trip in drive or
reverse at running temps?

I edited the post and re-arranged the photos based on the time frame (there is the tablet clock in the right bottom corner as a time stamp reference)
Apart from the last one, all of the screen grabs were took with the gear lever in drive.

Thanks for posting the pics
in time order.

When all were cold they matched
and near the end tft temps looked
near ideal ~175°F.

At the very end in park the tft gauge
matched your ect again in park.

Can someone please post what I need to enter in the PID editor. Do I still need the wakeup PID?

Look under settings> manage extra pids
and add dodge predefined list

There is already an extra pid for
tft that uses pid 2130 but uses the wrong
equation.

The other thread you posted on has some
posted screenshots that describe adding
a custom pid. (See ZX1990’s posts).

I do not believe the wakeup pid needs to be
added in the current version of Torque Pro.

I have no problems with entering the data and where it goes, it is just what data I should be entering. That is what I am missing.

Should be able to change equation in
existing pid from A-40 to L-50.

Press the pid in the list to reveal edit
option.

Pid 2130.

Variable A is the first data byte after the header returned
in the response. Variable L is b,c,d… bytes further in the
response.

L – 40 and L – 50 are 10 °C different (18 °F).

Value of variable L minus 50. You left out the
minus sign which will be needed in the equation.

Hi folks, although last post on this threat is very old, i could use some help. I have a 2012 JK crd 2.8 with auto trans and am trying to monitor trans temp. i am using Elm327 wifi, plus TorqPro on a Samsung note. I can connect to the OBD via wifi no problems, i have downloaded the 3 predifined chrysler/Jeep Pids. However when i go to realtime information and attempt to add the pid (jeep 2012 and later) or for that matter, any of those 3 pids, none of the pids are highlighted in green, hence none of them give me any indication at all, ie no trans temp. Am i doing something wrong? Thanks for any help that can be offered.
