LoL
these fancy new trucks have a variable geometry turbo that they use to feed an emissions control system.
they can generate boost at idle, which is a new phenom in turbo land, by aiming the exhaust flow at the turbine with moveable vanes
my old skool turbo needs lots of hot exhaust gas to spin it up and there are no computer controlled vanes involved

Your right about producing boost at idle. First time I ever saw 3.5 psi boost at idle was this morning at -10 F while it was warming up. (mj thats -23 “C”anadian LOL)

Hey capp777:

Don’t want you to forget about me; it’s been below -20 the past few weeks so I’ve been slow at doing any tests outside.
I’ve been keeping up with mj’s post and have been learning lot or at least know now how little I know (LOL). I’ve made a wish list to organize my PIDs for the 6.7L. I don’t know if or how I should post them. There are 35 pages so far, two PIDs to a page. Thinking of posting them as a “Sticky” type thread so that people can post information that is missing (What do you think?).
I also have started a spreadsheet.
When I think that I’ve come to a final roadblock with information, I going to pull favour’s and use other scan tools to complete my Wish List.

Regards, MPD56

Only publicly shared or reversed engineered info should

I read this before in early threads… but I am not sure of
the reversed engineered part…

I suggest not posting anything that was not publicly
shared in other forums/sites or on this forum.

Capp777:
I decided to hold off posting information due to I’m not sure what I can post. Nor do I know what is useful. If I think that I’m at the end of my wish list I’ll contact Ian to see if he would like to be added to his Ford Extended List, Or even make it a 6.7L list so folks will know it will work with that make and model

I’ll be working on the other PIDs and if you see something that seems wrong or a better way, please be so kind to let me know.

My truck had 3 rheostats in the pedal, one for Vref and two for position. It seems that the two position rheostats are APP “D” and APP “E”.

Torque’s display Values
Zero Pedal D = 15.3% and E = 7.8%
100% Pedal D = 80% and E = 40%

For some reason “D” seems to fluctuate at Zero Pedal (15.3-15.7) were “E” is always 7.8%. I’m assuming that this is due to temperature and farther from Vref then E? But in most part E is half of D (E=D/2). I don’t know the truck’s PID so I’m using Torques and made an equation from Torques A*100/255.

Accelerator Pedal Position “D” –
PID – 49 – Testing – Custom PID
Long Name (used in menus) – Accelerator Pedal Position “D” 6.7L
Short Name (used in gauge display) – APP D 6.7L
Min Value – 0.0
Max Value – 100
Scale Factor – x1
Unit Type – %
Equation – ((A*100/255)-15.8)*1.64198
OBD Header – 7E0

Accelerator Pedal Position “E” –
PID – 4a – Testing – Custom PID
Long Name (used in menus) – Accelerator Pedal Position “E” 6.7L
Short Name (used in gauge display) – APP E 6.7L
Min Value – 0.0
Max Value – 100
Scale Factor – x1
Unit Type – %
Equation – ((A*100/255)-7.7)*2.821078
OBD Header – 7E0
Well I need to tweak the equations but I’m glad they are close. I think I should put the zero pedal value at 15.3% and 7.8%? And rework the multipliers?

Custom PIDs Test Results
Zero Pedal D = -0.8% and E = 0.4%
100% Pedal D = 105.4% and E = 91.1%

Torque’s Values
Zero Pedal E = 15.3% and E = 7.8%
100% Pedal E = 80% and E = 40%

Thanks for the info. I am hoping those pids
will work on 7.3’s as well. Based upon my
readings for the 7.3 it is not unusual to see
values 10-12 to 80-90 %.

Didnt mean to scare you on what you post..
but since I didnt know the full extent of what
you suggested posting and if they had been
publically disclosed… I told you what I thought
by your request.

Something to try… I think Ford and others mimic
the mode 1 pids e.g., 22004A. Just curious if this
is true.

Do you know what values are typically reported
by the professional scan tools?

22004a didn’t send a response or work on my truck. But some did like 78 22f478, so maybe I’ll try 22f44a

There was a ford escape hybrid
thread here that suggested it used
that range.

Maybe they only use the 2200xx for
pids not available in mode 1.

The range I suspected was from
220001 to 2200FF.

Does anyone have any updates on the PID for the soot load? I tried the one posted in this thread and it has been sitting at 1.313 for about 200 miles, so I’m guessing that it is not correct (although I haven’t had a regen in about 300 miles). I do have a 2013 6.7 and would be willing to do any testing that may be needed.

Thanks,
Bryce

Welcome to the forum. I don’t think anyone is working on the DPF sensors right now. I hope to get to that soon. Thanks for the offer, there is always need for input.

My truck just went into a regen this morning when I shut it off. Are there any variables that I could capture when I start it back up that would be helpful in figuring out an equation for the soot level?

Haven’t forgot about you guys. Have you
made any further progress with your
public lists?

There are a number of pids in this thread
which haven’t been added to Torque yet.

Hope all is well.

Thanks Capp777: Needed to spend time with family members, I haven’t given up.

I have been keeping up on yours and other posts and learning a lot on the side. Also didn’t help that I lost all my PID data due to a hardware crash during a system backup. Why is it when you read a book on polynomial equations family members start thinking you need a vacation LOL?

Been too cold to play with Torque and the truck, Odd thing is that I haven’t had a Regen, but the DIA PID has been counting down a few miles for some reason? I know that the 6.7L has a Passive Regen that might have something to do with it. Hope to post my results soon after I re-test and confirm.

I’ve loaded up what you have posted and will test over the next few days to confirm your DIS and EGT11-14 PIDs.

The Service Manual mentions two PIDs for Soot level (but doesn’t give the actual PIDs). One is a concentration and the other is a percentage. The concentration is “inferred” grams/liter. I’m experimenting with PID 042c to see what I get.

End Quote.

MPD56:

Did you ever look into this pid?

Can you post a response for 22042C?

I have been monitoring 22042C the last few days with a couple of different equations, I’ll try and post a hex response.

I don’t get a response to 22116C with variable “A”, still working on it.

Also I have setup an On/Off for Regen status with equation A

I am beginning to believe 22116C is for
6.4L?

REPLY:

Weather Forecast says it might be above freezing soon and hope to do more testing.

I’m not getting a response for 22116C on my 6.7L; I believe that it might have changed on the 2013’s made after Jan 1, 2013, on another forum they say is works on a 20116.7L?

For 22042C I forgot to write down the response, with the equation (A*256)+B, I get a value of 1028.0 grams/liter at the start of a 10mile trip and 1040.0 at the end. I know that this doesn’t mean anything but I got carried away LOL. Will try to get results soon.

For PID 22F48B would you know what equation I would use for an On/Off. I’m thinking that 0= not in Regen (off) and 1= not in Regen (on).

I would try ((A*256)+B)*((10^2)/65535) based
upon bridges comments and your data which
falls between the 1.15 and 2.67 values that
have been mentioned previously.

For bit examinations (On/Off) you would use
an equation like e.g. {A:7}, {B:0}, {C:4}, {D:6}, etc.
and the display type for On/Off values. (Where 7
is the msb and 0 is the lsb of the desired byte).

I am thinking 1=Regen.

Alright, I just gathered some data for the 22042C PID and Capps equation. I knew I was due for a regen since I just shut the truck off in the driveway a couple days ago right when the regen message came on, and I haven’t had the truck up to regen temp since.
When i first started the truck up, it read 2.78 which would be what I would expect to see. It’s 20 degrees here right now so I knew it would take a bit to get to 160 degrees. After about 10 miles of driving it made it to 160 and the soot reading at that time was 2.85. Like clockwork the regen message came on and my numbers started to fall. I stayed in regen mode until I came to a stop sign and the soot number was down at 1.38. I know that stopping is not supposed to end a regen, but that is exactly when mine stopped and EGT’s dropped. I continued to drive another 5 miles or so and the lowest that soot got was 1.168 and when I pulled into my driveway the number was back up to 1.178.
BTW: My truck is a 2013 F-250 built in November 2012
Hope this helps,
Bryce
