Post Nissan 200SX (Consult) - ECU Connection?
on: January 22, 2013 (GMT)

Hi all ..

Have hooked up the supported Nissan Consult BT adapter to my Australian Delivered, 2002 Nissan 200SX (S15) – I’m able to establish a connection to the adapter without an issue using the Nissan Consult profile, but I’m unable to establish an ECU connection (I’m able to establish a connection using NikoZ) .. the car icon just keeps flashing in Torque Pro.

Has anyone else with this vehicle run into a solution / is there a way I can provide or view debug details so that some light could be shed on the issue?

Thanks loads! ..

Hi!

Have you chosen the ‘Nissan Consult’ protocol inside the vehicle profile – you’ll need this before things will start working)

There is a debugging option in the app you can enable, in the general settings (near the bottom) and send me a debug file (though it may be a week before I can look at it due to some other outside issues)

If you do decide to send a debug (from the realtime information screen), make sure you label it with something I can search for (like ‘Nissan debugs’)

Have the identical issue with 300ZX. But at this point not sure if it’s poor contact, as the space to plug the adapter is rather cramped and maybe it’s not sitting properly in the socket.

I have ordered the Australien BT adapter as well, but only 10 days ago, so it may need an additional 10-14 days to arrive.

My cars are two NXs, one with the GA16DE engine and one with the SR20DE engine, both use Consult I so i am not sure if i can give you information relevant for your newer vehicles.
I will provide an update once the adapter arrives.

Thanks for keeping this going fellas .. I imagine the 300ZX is having the same issue that I am (whatever that is) .. if you install BlueFRom (free) are you able to establish an ECU connection? I am, but it dies after a few minutes .. though it does pull data for that time.

Good luck with your NX .. my 200 is running an SR20DET, be interested to hear what happens with yours.

In the meantime, thanks again for looking into those debug files ..

Hi,

i was able to test the adapter now, it arrived on Saturday.

I can confirm that it is not working on my NX2000/100NX GTi with the SR20DE engine.
The adapter connects fine (called ConsultBT in bluetooth settings, pw: 1234), but torque is unable to connect to the ECU.

I took some screenshots:
http://imgur.com/a/HNuJp
As you can see, i am connected to the adapter and Nissan Consult protocol is set in the vehicle profile.
I think the app might have been able to read the coolant temp correctly at some points, but i don’t know exactly.

I tried turning fast com on and off, i defined the standard adapter in the vehicle profile (tried both directly choosing the ConsultBT and choosing “as in global OBD2 settings”).

I haven’t tested any other apps so far, and i haven’t test my NX1600 yet (GA16DE engine), either.

Any help?

I got this link from the ConsultBT vendor. It’s an Android app to test the adapter. http://www.trackelectronics.com.au/download/ConsultBTTest.apk

My results were inconsistent – a test would pass and then would fail.

Hi!

Looking at this for the next update, I may have improved it in the update coming sometime next week (14th-ish Feb) assuming testing goes well

Well, the test of the trackelectronics-adapter did not go well.
Their testing app was usually capable of connecting to the adapter, but it never was able to connect to the ECU.
Data streaming worked, sometimes better, sometimes worse.

Maybe the adapter isn’t working that great?

I was told by the TE guys that things may be working well even if it says ‘fail’. I sent them the logs from the tests – located in the ConsultBTLogs folder on your phone.

Got an email from the ConsultBT folks. Say adapter is working properly, Hopefully, now, with an upcoming update Torque will be rocking :)

Any news on a new update fixing the issue connecting to the ecu?
Will the updated version work on android 2.1…..my head unit is only 2.1 :(

I forgot to report back.

With the latest update there is still no proper connection to the ECU.
I am able to read coolant temp and speed, but only sporadically, not constantly.
The connection to the BT adapter sometimes drops.

While the readings are correct, they don’t update often enough to call this a reliable connection (update every ~30 seconds).

So at this moment, torque doesn’t fully work with the trackelectronics adapter.

If needed, i can submit debug infos.

Hi!

Yes – debugs would be very useful as I don’t have a nissan here to test with.

Enable debugging in Settings->General Settings(scroll down) Enable debugging

Then connect, wait for it to stat to pull informations, then after a short while, press menu->Send debugging information

Put ‘Nissan Consult’ into the window that pops up (so I can find the debug) and send it (you should get a brief sent ok message if all goes well)

I’ll then receive the debug and will have a look to see where things are falling down – it’s probably something fairly straightforward

Hey Ian,

did the debug info help?

I waited for the app to grab the coolant temp (around 27°C, which should be correct) before sending the debug info.

With the latest update, i am not able to get a proper connection to the ConsultBT device.

Any news about the development? Or, is it still in development? I would like to purchase the app and the adapter but I don’t know how well it’d work on a Nissan Consult.

I have an S13 SR20DET I would like to monitor.
